Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Monday, July 4, reveals that Will Horton’s (Chandler Massey) murder theory rattled Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) while JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) lost it over Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) fake sympathy.
As Jennifer Deveraux’s (Cady McClain) voice read the obituary she’d written for Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller), DOOL viewers saw her loved ones mourning the loss all over Salem.
Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) was especially broken up as he got hugs from Will and Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker).
At the Horton house, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) accepted a supportive call from Gwen, but furious JJ didn’t buy her fake sympathy.
After JJ raged over Gwen probably doing a happy dance in prison, Jack blew his top and stormed out.
At the pub on Monday’s Days episode, Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) marveled over Jennifer being able to write something so perfect.
Although Kayla agreed to speak at the funeral, she was unsure of what to say and still felt like maybe there was something more she could’ve done to save Abigail.
Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) assured Kayla that she did all she could and later encouraged Kayla to convey what was in her heart.
After Jack showed up, he pushed Steve for leads and lashed out since it looked like Steve was just sitting around drinking coffee.
Jack was apologetic after he calmed down, but he begged for any hint that could help solve the case of Abigail’s killer.
Although the cops were investigating the missing jewelry, Steve thought the attack seemed more personal than a robbery gone wrong.
In Lucas’ hotel suite, Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) was glad to see he got the place cleaned up.
Lucas still couldn’t remember what happened, but he argued that he wouldn’t have gone after Abigail like that.
When Will arrived, Kate took off and left them to talk.
Will said he thought Abigail’s murder might have something to do with Sami Brady’s (Alison Sweeney) kidnapping, so Lucas got flustered as he questioned the connection.
Will then pointed out that Abigail called him about the kidnapping case and was trying to get to the truth.
That led Will to believe Abigail might’ve reached out to other sources and made him worry one of them didn’t like her poking around.
Lucas insisted EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) was the kidnapper, but Will didn’t believe EJ would kill Abigail.
After Lucas admitted that’d be extreme, he advised against mentioning any of this to Chad.
Will confirmed that he wouldn’t since Chad obviously had enough to deal with right now.
Meanwhile, Kate made her way to the pub, where she fished for investigation info from Steve.
After Kate ultimately said today should be about celebrating Abigail, Jack headed home to prepare for the service.
Back with JJ, he expressed remorse for upsetting Jack.
JJ was amazed over Jennifer being able to support Jack’s relationship with Gwen, but she understood that nothing could ever make you stop loving your child.
After Jennifer sobbed over losing Abigail, JJ pulled her into a comforting embrace.
Once Jack returned home, he patched things up with JJ as they mourned Abigail together.
At the DiMera mansion on Monday’s Days episode, Chad arrived right as Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley), Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and EJ were discussing the bloody aftermath of Abigail’s murder.
Although EJ offered to have someone else get Chad’s suit, Chad felt he had to face that room sometime.
Anna protested that it didn’t have to be today, but Chad went upstairs anyway.
Once Chad was in the bedroom, he gazed at a few of Abigail’s belongings – like makeup that had been left out. Chad ultimately picked up Abigail’s dress and held it close.
Back with Kayla, she settled on reading a favorite poem of Abigail’s at the funeral.
As all Abigail’s loved ones finished getting ready, Chad folded a scarf of Abigail’s into a pocket square and prepared to face this final goodbye.
