General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Frank Valentini recently hinted at Anthony Geary’s return and offered hope that Luke Spencer is alive. GH fans were thrown into a tailspin over the news of Luke’s sudden death in Austria – supposedly due to a freak cable car accident.
However, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) suggested it was a shame for someone larger than life like Luke to go out in such a trivial way.
Victor also spoke with an unidentified caller about Luke being “neutralized” – and an easy strategy to make that happen would be to fake Luke’s demise.
It would just be a bizarre writing decision to have Luke die offscreen like this for no reason.
It seems more like a setup for another story – much like Holly Sutton’s (Emma Samms) “death” set up the revelation that she was actually alive and being held prisoner.
GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini also sent out a tweet that contained a big clue. “New year – new romance – new drama! Is Luke really gone?” Valentini asked fans on his Twitter account.
Of course, it seems telling for Valentini to discuss if Luke is REALLY gone, especially in the form of a question rather than a statement.
Valentini could’ve tweeted something more definitive about Luke Spencer’s passing, but instead he chose to leave the door open for Luke’s survival.
That could be in preparation for Anthony Geary’s exciting return arc. After all, it’s going to be a huge letdown for viewers if Geary doesn’t come back now.
The show is raising doubts about Luke’s death, so they need to follow through and deliver a very much alive Luke down the road.
That’s the only way this storyline is going to have a point or be satisfying to watch.
Let’s hope this leads to some big Luke adventure that ties in with Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) story and puts Luke back in the orbit of some other familiar faces.
