General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, January 20 Recap – Peter Offers to Expose Accomplice - Franco’s Art Studio Destroyed in Fire

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, January 20, reveals that Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) art studio was destroyed in a fire while Peter August (Wes Ramsey) offered to expose his accomplice. Let’s talk about how all Thursday’s action played out.

At home, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) learned from Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) that Franco’s art studio had burnt up in a fire.

There was an arson investigation since they had found traces of accelerant.

Dante wanted to know who had keys to the place, but it was just Liz and the superintendent as far as she knew.

Liz pulled out her keys to confirm they were still there. She also vouched for her whereabouts as well as Cameron Webber’s (William Lipton) once he got the unsettling news.

Cameron wondered if Dante had questioned Peter about what happened.

Cameron thought that maybe Peter set the fire to destroy the evidence and grew concerned that Peter wouldn’t pay for killing Franco.

Dante argued that Peter was facing plenty of charges no matter what, but Cam wanted Peter to specifically pay for Franco’s murder.

Cameron insisted that Peter could’ve hired someone to do it, so Dante intended to look at all the angles and find out who was responsible.

Once Cameron was alone with Liz, they hugged because this felt like losing Franco all over again.

Liz regretted not going to retrieve some of Franco’s art pieces since it was all gone now.

Cam commented on the weirdness of the wedding ring appearing in her locker and now the fire at the studio.

Liz joked that maybe Cameron was watching too many paranormal podcasts, but she seemed a bit unsettled.

At the hospital, Peter complained of back pain to try and delay his transfer to Pentonville. He wanted Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) to be his doctor because it felt like he’d been thrown down a flight of stairs.

Peter tried to blackmail Finn into saying he needed to stick around GH. He vowed to tell everyone the staircase story if Finn didn’t do what he was told.

However, Finn argued that it was his word against Peter’s and didn’t think the criminal would be believed. “Good luck in prison, Pete,” Finn said.

At home, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) filled Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) in on the whole vase incident with Cameron.

Brook Lynn also gave Maxie a heads-up about Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) knowing the baby truth as they feared.

Maxie flipped out and began worrying that Peter would wiggle out of the charges for killing Franco.

Brook Lynn and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) worked to reassure Maxie, but she still left in a tizzy.

Afterward, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) was rather rude to Chase and wanted to speak with Brook Lynn privately about her grandmother acting like she was in trouble.

Tracy downplayed everything and thought Ned should learn to be nicer to Chase.

Ned decided that maybe he should since Chase was his “quasi son-in-law” now.

Brook Lynn insisted co-parenting was all that would happen, but she seemed to approve when Ned acted like they could become a couple.

Back at the hospital, Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) got Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) on board with going to Pautauk and seeing what else he could remember about the night Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) was born.

Austin was fine with that, but he refused to convince Maxie to come.

Felicia liked that Austin respected Maxie’s wishes, but she worried Maxie didn’t really know what she wanted.

When Maxie appeared, she wasn’t happy to find Felicia and Austin talking about her.

Austin assured Maxie that he could just go back to Pautauk on his own. He was fuzzy on that night and thought maybe a trip back there could indeed jog his memory.

Maxie decided she would go too since she definitely wanted to be there if Austin remembered something!

At Kelly’s, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) had a favor to ask Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), who assumed it involved exploiting his new relationship with Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) and figuring out his real reason for being in Port Charles.

Valentin admitted he was already working on that and dropped a hint about revenge on Brook Lynn being appealing.

Anna wasn’t fond of that idea and wondered if it was really that important to Valentin for him to be feared.

Valentin admitted that it was and acted like Anna should know that about him by now.

Dante interrupted and spoke with Anna privately about the fire at Franco’s art studio.

After Anna agreed to dig up a list of Peter’s associates, she suggested Dante should find out if hospitalized Peter had any unauthorized contact with the outside.

Before Dante left, he offered a warning about getting involved with Valentin.

Dante had heard about Anna and Valentin being together on New Year’s Eve and just wanted her to be careful.

Once Valentin was alone with Anna again, he acknowledged Dante’s concerns and pointed out he’d stop the revenge plan if it went too far.

Valentin wondered if Anna could trust him, so she smiled as she suggested she wasn’t sure.

At the hospital again, Finn admitted to Chase that Peter got under his skin.

Chase could tell that his brother was holding back, so Finn finally admitted the story of losing it on Peter and hurling him down the stairs.

After Chase got updates on that and the freezer drama, he was glad to know the truth.

Chase asked if Peter threatened to go to the authorities, so Finn replied that nothing was off the table.

Chase said they’d deal with that later and pointed out that Peter had no proof.

Chase wanted Finn to focus on the triumph of his poison cure and insisted Finn was still a hero in his book.

In Peter’s hospital room, he demanded to know where Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) had been and wanted to stop his prison transfer.

Peter also wanted Finn arrested and charged for attempted murder, so he recapped his accusations against the doc.

When Peter said he wanted the world to know what Finn did to him, Martin said they definitely weren’t doing that.

Peter’s best chance at getting off the hook for killing Franco was to sell that he was an innocent man who was targeted by the PCPD.

Martin wasn’t about to let Peter muddy the waters with all the Finn chaos, especially since Peter poisoned Chase and denied him the cure.

Instead, Martin planned to make it look like the PCPD was part of Anna’s vendetta. He just wanted Peter to sit in that courtroom and look penitent.

Peter admitted he had an ace up his sleeve in case things didn’t go as smoothly as Martin hoped – and it was his accomplice.

Peter wondered if he’d gain any goodwill by naming the person who helped him escape GH last June.

General Hospital spoilers say Peter’s revelation could lead to some new curveballs, so stay tuned.
