General Hospital Spoilers: Tuesday, October 4 Recap – Nik Must Divorce Ava or Die - Esme Lurks in PC – Diane Reveals Attacker

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, October 4, teases that Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) lurked in PC while Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) revealed a female attacker. Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) also realized he must divorce Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) or die thanks to Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) threat, so here’s how all the GH drama played out.

At Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) old high school in Jacksonville, she opened up to Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) about the car accident that Reese Marshall (Kari Wührer) died in.

Reese intentionally left Carly behind, so Carly said she hoped Reese crashed and burned.

Ten seconds later and Reese pulled in front of a semi-truck – causing the vehicle to disintegrate into a pile of metal.

Carly talked about Reese turning against her after she slept with her bestie’s father.

Adult Carly knew that wasn’t her fault, but she clearly still battled guilt over the whole ordeal.

Drew assured Carly that you couldn’t make an accident happen just by wishing it.

Since Carly would annihilate an older man who seduced her own teenage daughter, Drew wondered why she was still blaming herself.

Carly ultimately decided Drew was right and pulled him into an emotional hug.

At Spring Ridge, Ava showed up to see Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) and acknowledged that she still wasn’t fully convinced he had locked-in syndrome.

After Ava snapped and clapped in Ryan’s face, she pulled a chair over and strained her injury a bit.

Ava explained the hook drama to Ryan, whose thoughts said that was unacceptable and that if anybody was going to gut Ava with a hook, it was going to be him.

Once Ava reflected on how bored Ryan must be waiting for people to come see him, she wondered if he was still waiting for his “precious Esme.”

Ryan’s eyes darted toward Ava, who said “bingo” and talked about how Esme was Ryan’s kindred spirit who found a way around the ban.

Ava eventually suggested Esme didn’t watch her step at Wyndemere – and now Ava didn’t expect anyone would see Esme ever again.

At the Metro Court, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) pushed Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) to come back to ELQ full-time and hinted about them having time to pursue other projects.

Outside Kelly’s, Victor warned that Nikolas needed to divorce Ava immediately and made it clear he didn’t have a choice in the matter.

Nikolas put up a fight, but Valentin arrived after getting his hands on the confession letter that Nik gave Ava.

Victor angrily wondered why this letter existed in the first place, but Nikolas wanted to give Ava power and win her back.

Valentin hinted that if Nikolas died, Spencer Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) would inherit all things Cassadine. Victor decided that was true and pointed out that accidents do happen.

Since Nikolas couldn’t be with Ava if he was dead, Victor pushed him to make the only choice he could make.

Nikolas relented on the divorce, so Victor was pleased and mentioned Esme’s death as part of his relief.

Nearby, Esme was wearing a dark hood as she turned around and eavesdropped.

At Pozzulo’s, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) told “Carver” that she was Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) stepdaughter and acted like she left her jacket earlier.

Carver said he was the new chef and denied Josslyn access, so she warned that Sonny wouldn’t be happy about his rudeness.

In the backroom, a tied-up Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) was starting to lose it as he sang The Star-Spangled Banner.

Carver prepared his knives and hinted about Sonny not seeming convinced of Dex’s innocence.

Back with Josslyn, she found Michael and told him she thought Sonny was holding Dex in his restaurant.

Josslyn pushed Michael to help her get in there before Dex was killed.

At the hospital, Diane came off the ventilator and groggily told her garage story to Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers).

Although Diane didn’t remember much at first, more came back to her after Sonny and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) joined the conversation.

Diane recalled that her attacker was a woman about her height with jangling bracelets, but she couldn’t determine the build due to the hood – nor could she remember the woman’s face.

At Pozzulo’s again, Michael barged in with Josslyn and warned Carver that he should consider carefully how to proceed.

Since Michael didn’t think Carver wanted the cops involved, he pushed him to let Josslyn look for Dex in the back.

Once Josslyn found captive Dex, he told her Carver was a dangerous freak and was concerned for her safety.

However, Josslyn assured Dex that Michael was there with her and proceeded to cut off his restraints.

Josslyn took Dex out front, where Carver tried to block them from leaving.

Michael offered another warning, but Josslyn was ready to call the police and got out her phone.

Dex pushed Joss not to call the cops right as Sonny appeared, so Michael told his dad to look who they found in the freezer.

Back in Diane’s hospital room, TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) urged her to be patient when it came to letting more memories return. Diane was focused on making sure a dangerous maniac was caught.

Robert also discussed Diane’s new clues with Dante and feared the attacks might be random after all.
