In tonight’s I Am Jazz episode, its been two years since Jazz shaved her legs. Jazz is a hippie in that sense. She would be the first to burn her bra and she hated putting in the work of shaving if no one notices. Her mother on the other hand thinks its time. Jazz is going to college in a week. She needed to start the journey with smooth legs. Her mother got the wax. She got the strips. She’s never done this before and still she managed to talk Jazz into letting her do it. Jeanette tried first with wax. Jazz found it too painful. They next tried shaving cream and Jeanette managed to spray everyone and everything with the cream. She even covered the cameraman with it.

Jazz eventually decided she needed to shave her legs on her own. Her mother couldn’t be trusted with it. Jeanette is a great mom. She sucks at doing legs, though. Jazz went elsewhere. She also later met up with family friend Raymond. Jazz wanted to get his opinion on everything. Jazz feels ready for college and not everyone agrees. She knows that her mom still wants to see her as a kid. She also knows about her own secret doubts and so talking to Raymond was helpful. He told her that she didn’t have to rush to make everything work in the first month. She can take time to find her footing there. And so hearing him say that eased some her fears.

Jazz also had to rap things up with Dr. Gallagher. She was still interning before she left. She met Aaron and his mom. Aaron is a trans man. He needed to know about what he can do to transition and Jazz was there to offer support. Jazz and her family have been through a lot together. They know all they needed to know about the process. Sander even found himself correcting friends when they misspoke about the subject. Like, the other day when he told his friend that there’s a difference between transvestite and transwomen. Sander has gotten really close to Noah. Noah is a transman. And Sander wanted to introduce him to his friend group.

But the meeting did not go well. Sander’s friends and that includes Noah were talking about transwomen when someone mentioned that they would end a relationship if a transwomen didn’t reveal she was trans at the start of the relationship. Mind you, they also said that if the woman who might have become a wife by then hadn’t mentioned that she couldn’t get pregnant. The friend said that would a breach of trust and Noah got offended because he said you don’t ask people if they’ve been to jail. Why did you need to know if they’re trans? The friend then said they would want to be with someone they can have biological children with and so Noah once again got offended.

Noah asked this person if he would date him then because he technically can still get pregnant. The guy said that “yes, it would be easier” and wanting biological children isn’t a sin. A lot of people choose this option. Its why people are willing to spend thousands on fertility treatments. Some people don’t want to adopt. They don’t want to be with someone who can’t them biological children and, while that’s not something Noah wants to hear, its not about him. Its really a personal choice. Sander also asked Raymond to be there and Raymond mentioned several times that often guys are afraid the stigma they get from dating transwomen. And that stigma comes from other men.

Noah did mention that he felt they were excluding a whole group of people who couldn’t have children naturally for whatever reason. Only the others said that was a personal choice. Noah didn’t think they should exclude anyone and he especially hated the judgement if a transwoman didn’t tell them they were transwomen from the onset. Noah felt that was a personal choice. He thought if they never told anyone that it would be fine. He didn’t see a betrayal of trust and others did. Everyone remained respectful. They disagreed respectfully and most of them tried not to take their differing in opinions personally.

It was just Noah that was a little too sensitive on the matter. He was making it about him and he’s a man. Its naturally going to be different not worse for women. Jazz and other transwomen have it different. Raymond later went to Jeanette. He told her that he has some concerns about Jazz being away from home and that made Jeanette worry. She was worried before, but having that validated by someone else just made her think of everything that could go wrong.

THE END!
