Tonight’s episode begins with Helen, she tells Max she will be at Heathrow in an hour and she is closing her luggage. He tells her this is really happening, they will have an intimate ceremony with a few of their friends at the botanical gardens. He takes her flight number and tells her that he can’t wait to see her. Meanwhile, on the news, a huge hurricane is on the way.
Iggy is home with Martin and he says why him, sometimes it feels like he has this need to be the strong one, and for that to happen he has to be weak, and he doesn’t want to be a broken bird. Mike gets upset, he says nobody wishes he wasn’t broken more than him and it has been his go-to move for years, and as far as he sees, he has no interest in changing that. Mike leaves the room.
Lauren walks into the nurse’s station, hurricane Alba is set to hit New York City and the surrounding area, it is a category four storm.
Lauren calls Floyd, she wants him to come in, but he says no. She can’t call Max, he is getting married. She goes around and speaks to many people and they all say no. She sees Iggy at the café, she says she asked every department head in the hospital to lead them through the storm and they said no. He says she didn’t ask him, he grabs the binder she is holding and says he is in charge.
Floyd finds Horace who thinks he is there to help him with some sandbags.
Iggy is in emergency and tries to get everyone’s attention, he says everything not nailed to the floor needs to be moved because like hurricane Sandy they will probably flood. A man comes in then with a woman named April, she is having symptoms similar to an ectopic pregnancy. Lauren recognizes a tattoo behind her ear, she tells Leila she knows she is being sexed trafficked.
Max is out in the storm, he sees a man having a hard time pushing a vending cart and goes to help him.
In the hospital, the power goes out, and the main grid went down but Iggy assures everyone that the generator should go on, and it does. A blast of wind smashes windows and everyone ducks. Iggy directs everyone to the stairwells, there are no windows there.
Max comes into the hospital with the guy he found near the cart, he hurt his hip.
Floyd is helping with the sandbags, and Horace tells him to pack them better. Horace tells him that he doesn’t need any favors, he can do this by himself. All of a sudden, part of the roof falls in.
Fareed tells Max his wife is going to kill him, they paid a lot for that cart. Max reminds him that he can replace the cart, but not his life. Max keeps texting Helen, she is not answering. Fareed tells him he soiled himself, Max sees blood and says he thinks his kidney is failing. Iggy has moved everyone to the stairwell and tells them they are safe from the storm in there. One by one they start fainting and Iggy can’t breathe and looks like he is going to faint as well.
There was a gas leak in the stairwell, that is what caused everyone to faint. Max has a problem, he needs to get Fareed to the sixth floor on dialysis so he takes him outside to the fire stairs.
Lauren brings April to the washroom for a urine sample and gives her two markers, she is to use the red one to write her name if she needs help and she does. Meanwhile, Iggy is reaching a dead end after dead end trying to keep everyone safe when part of the roof comes in with tons of water and electrical wires nearby. You can see the electricity crackling, there is no way they can go through.
Horace’s wife got hurt when the roof came in, she has a bone sticking out of her chest and Floyd says he needs his help to save her life.
Lauren tells April that she is pregnant and since it is ectopic and they have to do surgery. The guy who is with her says no way and pushes April out of the hospital.
Max gets Fareed to the sixth floor and on dialysis. Max checks his phone, there is no information on the flight. Then, the power goes out. Leila runs after April, she has the pills for her to use instead of surgery. All of a sudden, with the lights out, the guy notices that he is not pushing April, little does he know that Lauren has her safe.
With no power, there is nothing Max can do for Fareed. He tells Max to tell his wife that when his life was at his darkest, she was his light. Just then, the power goes back in. Fareed calls his wife and Max checks the flight again and it shows it over the ocean and says no record.
Floyd gets Mrs. Carnegie in the ambulance, he turns to Horace and says he needs answers to which Horace says he doesn’t have them. Then Horace tells him he hurt his shoulder moving the beam, he asks him to call him a shoulder doctor. Floyd says ok.
Lauren tells April that the social worker will help her, she wants to help her friend as well and Lauren tells her that she can’t call anyone. She took back her future, but freedom comes at a cost. April says she never thought she could get out until she gave her the chance.
Iggy tells Martin that he was in charge during the storm, the only thing holding him back was a voice in his head and it was him. Martin asks what they are doing then and Iggy says he doesn’t know, but he cannot be who he wants to be with him. Martine tells him that he should move out then.
Leyla tells Lauren they make a good team. Lauren tells her that she is going to take her apartment until she gets her VISA and she is not going to be there with her, she can’t be there with her – she will go someplace safe.
Max makes a call regarding the flight, he wants answers, just then he gets a message that she landed.
Floyd sees Max and asks him if he can change his food option, Max says they don’t have a venue because of the storm. Floyd says he has an idea. Everyone is turning the roof into magic at New Amsterdam so they can get married there. Helen calls Max, she tells him she can’t, she is so sorry. She never got on the plane. Max is left standing at the altar with everyone looking at him. She hangs up, he tells everyone she is not coming.
