After thousands of online submissions as well as hundreds of auditions, only the very best remain. Forty-two contestants had made it into the Choreography Round and unfortunately, they learned there that it was only going to get tougher from here on out. Here to help out with this round was Mandy Moore. She choreographed the contestants. Some bled. Some gained confidence. All were made to compete in front of the judges and up first was Contemporary. Everyone, even those that didn’t normally dance that genre, had found themselves dancing Contemporary and some found their place in the sun. And others did not.

The first group to hit the stage was all amazing. No one was eliminated. The judges actually resisted eliminating anyone until they came across a specific group of girls and they sorta had to give them the boot. Madison and Maci didn’t learn the choreography. They struggled to keep up with the rest. Sure, it was their dream to compete in the show. But they weren’t ready. They were eliminated and they could come back next year. The judges went on to quickly work through the Contemporary group and it was soon the Hip Hop genre. In the first group to compete, there were all Hip Hop dancers and someone still managed to disappoint.

Brianna was told to go prepare for a solo because she had to come back to dance for her life. In all, ten people were eliminated during this round and for the most, they weren’t people in that genre. Therefore, Brianna had something to prove when she came back. She had to dance for her life and she managed to show the hunger that got her this far. Two of the three judges voted to keep her in the competition, but she has to do better and this round was far from over. The next genre was Pairings. It was one thing to dance great solo. It was a whole other beast to dance in a pair. And so partners had a great way of testing every one.

Some flourished. Some were eliminated. Mandy Moore watched it all along with Cat. Beau and Juicy were a great pairing because they kept the judges on their toes and they even made them laugh. Everyone thought they would get eaten alive by the other pairing but both pairings made it through the genre. Briana came back with a partner. She got lost again onstage. The judges weren’t too sure about what to do with her again until they talked about it and they determined that she didn’t do great enough to stay. She was eliminated during this genre. And eliminations kept going after that.

Waverly came back. He was given a stern warning about getting lost in the sauce as tWitch put it when he performed in the Contemporary genre. He, therefore, came back stronger than ever and he made it into the next genre. While others like Hooliboy were eliminated. It was sad to see Hooliboy go because he brought such great energy to his audition that it would have been great to see him in the finale, but these things happen and he can always come back next year. The next genre up was a Group number. All the remaining contestants had to get on stage and show that they’ve learned how to coordinate in a group. This was important because the top twelve always put on at least one group routine during the show.

But eliminations still happened. There was no escape from it. The judges criticized people they felt got lost in the dance or who didn’t stand out. They went back and forth on people they thought should stay. And right before they were supposed to determine the top twelve – that’s when the episode ended!
