Tonight on NBC their new medical drama “The Good Doctor” airs with an all-new Monday, December 12, 2022, episode and we have you The Good Doctor recap below. In tonight’s The Good Doctor season 6 episode, 5 called, “Broken or Not,” as per the ABC synopsis, “Dr. Shaun Murphy unknowingly creates a competition between Drs. Danica Powell and Daniel Perez when he introduces a new performance rating system. Meanwhile, Dr. Morgan Reznick may have crossed a line with Dr. Alex Park on an all-new episode.”

Tonight’s The Good Doctor episode begins after six open houses, Shaun and Lea are at another one and Shaun is not a fan, he thinks it is a fixer-upper. There is a reading nook in this house and Lea likes it, she says she grew up with one like this.
Audrey is with Clay, he stayed over and they are at breakfast. Later, at the hospital, Shaun catches up to Audrey, he wants to show her some results, along with Aaron, that signals are getting to her spinal column. They can operate, and she could walk again. Marcus tells her this approach is safe. She wants time to think it over.
Shaun tells Aaron he has a new rating system for first-year residents.
Alex is at the gym, kickboxing with Lily when blood comes from her nose and she feels faint.
Daniel and Danica are examining a patient who hit himself in the head with a cowbell. Danica says they are going to run a full concussion protocol. The patient also has abdominal pain, she asks him to lift his shirt. He lost 70 pounds and has a lot of loose skin. He lays back, Daniel does an abdominal, and he has a hernia. Shaun checks it, he tells Daniel that he is right, the patient needs immediate surgery.
Alex comes in with Lilly and orders full labs and a blood culture. Morgan is there in emergency and asks how she met Alex, she reveals to Lilly that she is Alex’s ex.
Daniel and Shaun are in surgery and he is worried about his patient, he thinks maybe he didn’t do the weight loss for himself, but for his brother who is fit, and maybe just to try and be like him.
Lilly is going in for an MRI, Asher tells Jordan that he has someone for her, but she tells him hat she has a date with Daniel, she is exploring. Lilly needs sinus membrane surgery.
In surgery, Alex joins Asher and Jordan. Asher talks about Alex parading Lilly in front of Morgan, he says he didn’t and he and Morgan are friends.
Lea asks Shaun if he loved or hated the last house. She loved it and wold like to speak to a mortgage broker, put an offer on it. She says they can be home owners and she is excited. He says he is a little excited that she is excited. She reveals that she already made the appointment with the mortgage broker.
Daniel tells Danica it is silly for them to be competitive. They go on to talk about their patient, he says they can bounce ideas off each other to help this patient. She is thinking that maybe the patient has celiac. Shaun walks in and wants them to present. He has crucially low levels of potassium and magnesium. Shaun goes back in to examine the patient, looks him over and tells him that he is bulimic.
Aaron and Audrey are talking when Shaun interrupts, Audrey leaves. Shaun tells Aaron that Lea has been sad lately, he thinks she wants the house just to make her happy because they have to wait to have a baby. Aaron says he thinks they are both looking for a distraction.
Daniel’s patient, Teddy, is leaving, he tells him that he got him a consult at an eating disorder clinic. Then, his brother walks in with healthy drinks. Daniel tells his brother that it might be a good idea to dial back on the weight loss goals. His brother wants to know more, Teddy tells him that he has been purging, it is not his diet that made him lose weight. He never told him because he was always ashamed of him being fat. Every day he makes him meet him at the gym. His brother tells him to get his own ride home and walks out.
Lilly is having a seizures, Alex is paged. Elsewhere, someone yells for help, it is Teddy, he is in the bathroom and there is blood everywhere, he has ruptured his esophagus, he is rushed into surgery. Shaun wants Daniel to perform the surgery, but he says he had a late night and Danica should do it.
Shaun goes in to see Lea in her office, he is ready to go home. She tells him the house seems like a step forward, she could really see them happy there and she warts him to see that too. He says he will try.
Clay goes in to see Audrey, she tells him about the solution that could help her walk. He asks her what is holding her back. She feels like they have been living in this perfect bubble and if she steps outside of it. He says the surgery is going to change her, not them, he doesn’t want to be the reason she says no.
Teddy is in recovery, Shaun and Daniel tell his brother that any further purging will cause permanent damage. Daniel tells him to love his brother, broken or not.
Shaun goes in to see Lea, tells her that they can make that fixer upper a beautiful home, for them and the family they are going to have, if it is going to make her happy. She says she bulldozed him. He says yes, but he doesn’t mind. She says the only step forward she needs right now is one that they make together.
Lily is in surgery, Morgan is watching on from above.
Audrey thanks Shaun and Aaron for not giving up on her, she has decided to have the surgery.
Daniel goes to see Teddy, brings his brother win to see him, they make up.
Shaun tells Danica and Daniel that he is retiring his first year resident rating system, he throws it in the trash. When he walks away, Danica reaches in the trash to get it.
Lily is awake, Alex tells her she is going to be ok, but has a long road. She basically breaks up with him, remembering how she saw the chemistry between him and Morgan.
Audrey is in pre-op, Clay goes in to see her and says he couldn’t let her go in before asking, if she will marry him. She says he is definitely bonkers. He says this is his telling her that he is all in. She thanks him.
Lea is about to have a CT scan, to check out her hand and an attendant comes out and says they will have to postpone.
Jordan is at Daniel’s door, he doesn’t answer, she looks through the glass and sees him passed out on the floor with a needle beside him, she calls 911.
Lea runs to Shaun, she tells him she is pregnant. He hugs her.
