The hospital had a potluck among hospital staff. They all brought in something to eat. They were all partaking in dishes. All except Shaun. Shaun kept finding something he didn’t like about each dish and so Lea was telling him to pretend to eat when Shaun got called to the ER. Someone came in with a severed toe. He was out camping with his girlfriend. It was dark in the tent. She saw his realistic snake socks and she thought it was real and so she came at with a machete. It was a clean cut. Shaun reassured them that he would have no problem reattaching it. He rushed the guy into surgery. He was working with Dr. Lim when Lim began acting oddly.

Lim started to hallucinate a real snake in the OR. She also vomited. All this happened after the toe was reattached and so that’s good, but Lim wasn’t the only one suffering from unknown cause. Several other doctors and nurses were also acting oddly. If not vomiting. Morgan and Glassman were the only other ones not affected. Even Lea was affected. She and the others must have eaten something to alter their health. Morgan thought it was food poisoning at first. Only the patients weren’t exhibiting symptoms of just food poisoning. Their hallucinations and lower inhibitions showed they were on some kind of psychedelic.

Lea suspected it was LSD. She would know because she used to work in IT and, according to her, those people are always lit. Lea also knew best how to ride out this high. Morgan, therefore, placed Lea in charge of talking to those others affected and writing down a list of what they all ate. Morgan, Shaun, and Glassman meanwhile started going through the patients to treat. They were all doing surgeries when one nurse suggested to Shaun that he didn’t need to wait for Glassman’s permission. He could just go ahead and start treating people. Which he did. Shaun moved at a fast pace and he quickly worked his way through everyone in need of help.

But fast doesn’t always mean good. Shaun ran into a troublesome patient and he had needed to call for Glassman. Glassman and Shaun had an argument about his work. He thought Shaun was focusing on closing cases and not on helping the patients. So, that’s what he told him. They argued about and then they went back to treating their own patients. Shaun later heard from Lea that she managed to find the common food that they all ate. It was the sweet potatoes. Asher was the one who cooked them and he believed he followed the directions in the recipe. The doctors asked Asher’s boyfriend to go bring all the items used to cook the meal.

It turns out Asher accidentally used crushed-up mushrooms. It was the mushrooms that were causing the symptoms and so Lea had been right when she called it a psychedelic. And once they knew what was causing the symptoms, they were able to treat it. But a few things happened before a cure could be worked up. Lim and Andrews finally got some things off their chests. They insulted each other. She accused him of wearing too tight clothes to prove he works out. He called a maverick with a complex. They both said horrible things until they started saying nice things. Their problems lay in the fact that Lim works under Andrews.

The two made peace. They were friendly if not friends now. Shaun and Glassman also got over their issues by working together during surgery and Glassman even let Shaun take a lead in saving a man’s life. Morgan was meanwhile overseeing a surgery with a resident. But once she was done with that, she talked to her boyfriend. Alex had been one of those drugged. He complained in his inebriated state that he didn’t want to put his recliner up in the den. He wanted to leave it in the living room. Alex hadn’t the courage of telling her that before he got drugged by the sweet potatoes, but he was glad to have said and Morgan got his warning that it was either living room or bust.

With everyone coming down from the high, Asher asked Jerome why he wasn’t going to be introduced to Jerome’s frat friends. Asher had thought at first that maybe his boyfriend was ashamed of him. But if anything, Jerome was ashamed of himself. He was a different person from the frat crew. He hadn’t wanted Asher to see him in that light and it wasn’t until he heard it was hurting Asher that Jerome invited him to hang out with his friends.

Lim and Andrews had also worked through their differences and now they get to watch the Spiderman movies together.
