Tonight’s episode begins with Eugene who wakes to Stephanie reading his manuscript. He is nervous. She loves it. As she dresses, he gives her a key to his apartment. He tells her he loves her. She loves him too. She heads to work. Eugene tells Princess all about what just happened. He is nervous. She tells him to relax and just enjoy it. That night he waits for Stephanie. They were to meet for ice cream. She doesn’t show. He goes to her house but she isn’t there.

Connie works on a story about Tyler and the governor. Her editor tells her in so many words to write a puff piece on what the governor said in her statement from that night. Connie heads to see Tyler in jail but they won’t let her see him. Meanwhile, Eugene asks Rosita to do a wellness check on Stephanie. They cannot find her. He heads to the station.

Carol goes on a trip with Hornsby to a drug farm. She watches as he disputes a deal with the farmers. Princess shows up to find Eugene investigating Stephanie’s disappearance. He tells her about how it all started. He started following a man who claims to be a plumber. He noticed the man runs with a group and his business is open at all hours with the same several people coming in and out. He also noticed all of Stephanie’s furniture in the apartment was moved. He then found a fake work transfer notice.

Hornsby fishes with the leader of the farm while they talk business. Carol picks up on a few strange things.

Connie heads out into the woods to continue on with her story. She watches the community’s army. She starts to ask dangerous questions of Mercer and is warned. She tips him off that his orders are not being followed. Tyler was moved from his cell. Later, he checks and she is right. Meanwhile, Eugene and Princess head to break into the apartment of the man he has been following. She doesn’t want to but he needs her help. She has a lot going for her she doesn’t want to lose.

Carol tells Hornsby what she has picked up on. The leader he has been talking to has been pocketing money for himself. The soldiers take him into custody. Inside the apartment, Eugene and Princess get caught on their way out. Hornsby meets them at the jail and has an explanation for all of Eugene’s questions. He tells Eugene to let it all go. The man he has been following is truly a plumber. Princess tells him he needs to stop searching. It seems like Stephanie did just split. Princess shares how her dad left her, disappearing out of the blue. Sometimes you can think you know someone and you really don’t. Eugene knows that this isn’t the case with Stephanie. Princess leaves and Eugene starts to think of something else.

Someone dropped off a list of names that includes Tyler’s under her door. It appears all of the people on the list have possibly been done wrong or are dead. Eugene comes to learn that Stephanie was all a fake to get his people to come to the community. He confronts Hornsby who set this all up to learn about his community. Angry, Eugene promises to out Hornsby who only laughs at this. He confirms to him that he did lie but what can Eugene really say about him. All of Eugene and his people lied to come inside. He leaves Eugene in tears, telling him Stephanie’s real name. That night, he burns his book. That night the woman who he really was talking to the whole time introduced herself.

THE END
