The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) may play matchmaker for Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) could end up furious over Kyle’s parent trap, so let’s talk about how things might go down.
Now that Jack and Diane have been bonding as grandparents, Kyle has noticed a shift between them.
Jack is letting down his walls of animosity and trying to see the good in his former flame.
Although Jack is still proceeding with caution and hasn’t forgotten Diane’s past behavior, he also sees someone who’s proving she’s changed.
Whether Diane has actually changed or not, her actions are speaking volumes to Jack right now – unlike Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) who keeps messing up in the same old ways.
Diane is often manipulating the situation, but what matters is Jack is starting to trust her more every day.
The same goes for Kyle, who may fall into the typical pattern of wanting his parents to reunite.
It’s a common tale on soaps for a character to root for their mom and dad’s revived romance.
When Kyle spotted Diane and Jack connecting in the park recently, he seemed surprised and intrigued.
As this starts to happen more and more, Kyle might confront Jack and push him to admit his true feelings for Diane.
It’d be easy for Kyle to compare his own love story with Summer to the one Jack might have with Diane.
Summer has never done anything as horrible as fake her own murder and lie to her child about it, but she certainly doesn’t have a saintly history.
Who could forget the time Summer pushed Kyle to marry her so that she’d donate a portion of her liver to save Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle)?
However, Summer is now a mature, responsible stepmother and a loving wife.
Kyle may think Diane has that same ability to change and urge Jack not to close himself off to the possibility of a future with Diane.
It’d be easy for Kyle to play Cupid somewhat and infuriate Summer in the process.
Summer knows how much Jack means to Phyllis – and she knows Diane’s reunion with Jack would throw fuel on the fire of their rivalry.
Will Kyle support Jack and Diane getting back together? Could that lead to some trouble in Kyle’s own marriage to Sumner?
