The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) may dream of Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) love only to wake up to guilt and a Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) grief roadblock.
Y&R fans know Sharon has been trying to stay strong ever since Rey died, but she hasn’t been doing it alone.
Sharon’s loved ones have been rallying around her – especially Nick, who’s been part of this grief journey from the very beginning.
It was Nick who broke the news of Rey’s death, so he’s been protective and extra attentive to Sharon’s needs ever since.
Now that Sharon no longer has Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) wedding to focus on, she’s bound to struggle a bit more.
That wedding was a source of hope and a way to keep Sharon’s mind busy.
Since it’s over, Sharon will have to deal with the weight of her loss and truly get used to Rey not being in the picture.
Nick will continue to step up for Sharon, so it seems obvious these two are on a path forward together.
Sharon and Nick have always had a close bond, so it’ll be easy for the show to swing it back into romantic territory.
Nick and Sharon’s biggest romantic hurdle will likely be Sharon’s struggle to let go of Rey.
It’s not that Sharon hasn’t accepted Rey’s demise; it’s just that Sharon will undoubtedly feel guilty when it’s time to move on.
That’s particularly true since soaps tend to have characters move on pretty quickly following a big loss.
Romances are the bread and butter of soaps, so people don’t tend to stay single for long.
This Nick and Sharon storyline will get old fast without some movement beyond just supportive talks on the sofa.
The writers will inevitably need a way to move things along, but they won’t want Sharon to look like she’s dancing on Rey’s grave with some sizzling fresh start either.
Perhaps they could use the same strategy they used with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and her desire for Rey.
Chelsea’s subconscious clearly wanted more than friendship with Rey since she dreamed of sharing a passionate kiss with him.
Could Sharon have some steamy dreams of her own where she kisses Nick and feels the love?
It’d be a good way to start moving Sharon in another direction without trashing what she shared with Rey completely.
Sharon could wake up to guilt and feel like she’s betraying Rey’s memory.
Regardless, it’s probably just a matter of time until Sharon feels tempted by Nick – and that could start with some special “Shick” dreams as Sharon tries to cope.
