The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Thursday, January 20, tease that Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will call in backup on the custody case while Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) delivers an engagement ring surprise. Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) will also enlighten Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to the truth of a situation, so here’s what Y&R viewers will see next.
For starters, Abby will have a lot to mull over since her personal feelings don’t line up with Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) and Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James). Devon doesn’t feel like Chance is ready to be a father – and Chance isn’t sure he’s there yet either.
Of course, Abby still feels like Devon is being outrageous with this push for legal shared custody.
Abby believes Devon is getting inside Chance’s head and planting doubts, but Chance will stand his ground along with Devon in Thursday’s episode.
Both Chance and Devon will try to convince Abby that letting Devon help is for the best.
Even so, it’ll be hard for Abby to think about giving Devon formal visitation and changing their original agreement.
It may make Abby feel like she’s failed Dominic in some way, so she won’t be ready to surrender – not without some solid legal advice.
That’s where Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) comes in.
Christine helped draw up the original agreement that Devon signed, so she’ll understand Abby’s perspective on some level.
At the same time, Christine has already expressed concern about Chance trying to adjust to civilian life again.
Christine will no doubt understand Devon’s side as well and may agree a compromise is ideal.
Christine may urge Abby to think about what Dominic needs and suggest avoiding a full-blown custody battle.
Over with Tessa, she’ll treat Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) to a romantic night – complete with a massive surprise.
When Noah brought up marriage recently, Tessa admitted she was ready to take that step with Mariah. She sees no reason why they shouldn’t start their family by making a forever commitment.
Mariah will express confusion at Society and wonder if they’re celebrating something. Tessa will admit she hopes so and will ultimately drop to one knee.
Tessa will make a sweet speech and ask Mariah to marry her with a gorgeous engagement ring, but Mariah will insist she has something to tell Tessa.
It sounds like Mariah will let Tessa know what’s in her heart as well and may end up proposing at the same time.
Meanwhile, Noah will try to explain himself to Nick. This could involve Sharon Rosales’ (Sharon case) obvious concerns about Noah not being over Tessa or his other heartbreak in London.
Sharon might give Nick updates and hope he’ll have better luck getting their son to open up.
However, Noah may assure Nick that he’s made peace with his losses in love. He may act like he’s just trying to move on now, but that could be easier said than done.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Noah could use a new woman in his life, so maybe the show will give him one soon.
