Y&R fans know Victoria has a torn heart since she still loves Ashland, but she can’t ignore the mountain of horrible lies and mistakes.
Of course, pride is another hurdle to a Victoria and Ashland reunion.
Victoria felt like a fool for believing Ashland’s phony cancer story and for refusing to see the truth as long as she did.
It’s clear that Victoria’s keeping her guard up and doesn’t want to feel that foolish ever again.
There’s also the matter of Victoria’s family being so firmly against Ashland, especially Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Victoria knows Victor might remove her from the Newman throne if she reunites with Ashland.
It’d make Victor seriously question Victoria’s judgment and leave him with concerns about her ability to run the company.
That’s exactly why Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) are trying to push Ashland and Victoria back together, but Victoria may be too stubborn for that to work – at least just yet.
Maybe Victoria also needs a good dose of jealous fury as a motivator.
What happens if lonely, distraught Ashland decides his relationship with Victoria is really over forever?
Ashland recently realized he had a lot in common with Diane and seemingly thinks they could be allies.
There’s the potential for some flying Diane and Ashland sparks here, but how would Victoria feel about that?
Although Victoria would be furious, jealousy might creep in as well.
Ashland and Victoria considered themselves a perfect match once upon a time, but Diane might also be an intriguing match.
It’s one thing for Victoria to reject Ashland while he’s following her around like a sad puppy.
It’s quite another if Ashland moves on and starts forming a meaningful connection with Diane of all people.
That may be tough for Victoria to handle and could pull her back in Ashland’s direction if her jealousy’s strong enough.
On the other hand, there’s a chance it could push Victoria too far and make her see that she was right to kick Ashland to the curb.
Either way, it seems like Ashland would come out a winner.
Ashland could potentially build something new with Diane or use her to reignite his romance with Victoria.
