The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Wednesday, January 5 Recap – Amanda Pushes Devon To Sue For Dominic Custody

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Wednesday, January 5 Recap – Amanda Pushes Devon To Sue For Dominic Custody

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 5, teases that Chance Chancellor’s (Conner Floyd) new case will trouble Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) while Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) explores legal options with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan).

First on Wednesday’s Y&R episode, Amanda will let Devon know that what he’s asking for is perfectly reasonable.

Amanda will think Devon is entitled to Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) visitation and will advise against letting this go.

At the Chancellor mansion, Abby will shower Chance with praise following his latest bonding session with Dominic.

Abby will think Chance can keep building on their connection, but he won’t seem as convinced.

Talk will turn to Devon’s shared custody request, so Chance will admit he doesn’t think Devon’s going to back off.

Abby will acknowledge how much Devon has done for them and will hope that maybe Devon will respond like Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) did after taking a step back.

Even if Devon doesn’t, Abby will argue that they have to do what’s best for Dominic. She’ll want Chance to be the best dad he can be and will feel like any disruption of that would be weird.

Abby will add that babies need stability and consistency. She won’t like the idea of confusing Dominic at Devon’s place since his home is there with his parents.

Abby and Chance will agree that there’ll be no shared custody or any changes to their legal agreement.

At Crimson Lights, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will waltz over to Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) with gifts from his trip.

After Rey steps away, Nick will talk to Sharon about how well Summer Newman-Abbott (Hunter King) is doing in Milan.

Nick will suggest that distance from the family has been good for Summer. It helped Nick realize he shouldn’t let being a Newman define any part of who he is.

Nick will mention Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) being in his Christmas Eve dream and will allude to Sharon fitting in his grand vision.

Nick will recommit to his family and will want to put his children first more than ever before.

Nick will have a new idea involving Noah Newman (Rory Gibson), but he won’t give Sharon many details before he leaves.

On the patio, Chance will meet with Rey and admit that he’s ready to come back to work.

Chance will want Rey’s help convincing Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) that he’s ready.

Rey will also tell Chance about a case he’s working on, so Chance will ask questions and excitedly take notes.

At Society, Noah will find Chelsea stressed out over “office politics,” so he’ll know things must be difficult between working with her ex and having Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in the mix.

Noah will mention how close Sally and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) seemed to be at the wedding in Tuscany.

The conversation will shift to Noah’s time in London and how it wasn’t what he thought it would be.

Noah will suggest that maybe he should put his last name to the test and get in the viper’s nest at Newman Media.

Chelsea will just hope Noah doesn’t see her as one of those vipers and will advise Noah not to let himself be miserable.

After Nick interrupts, he’ll catch up with Chelsea briefly before she heads out.

That’ll leave Nick to ask if Noah if it’s too late to talk him out of working for Adam and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Nick will then encourage Noah to come work for him instead.

Back with Chelsea, she’ll work on the coffeehouse patio to avoid the drama of the office.

Rey will join Chelsea at her table and learn the new job isn’t going the way she imagined. When Rey seems genuinely interested in what Chelsea’s going through, she’ll be touched.

Chelsea will think it’s a miracle that Rey is talking to her at all, but she won’t bore him with the details of what she can’t change.

After Sharon overhears Chelsea telling Rey what a good guy he is, she’ll tell her husband the same thing in a private moment.

At Devon’s penthouse, Amanda will exit to pick up some dinner supplies as Abby arrives.

Once they’re alone, Devon and Abby will apologize for how things went down at Crimson Lights. After Abby points out they’re eternally grateful, she’ll acknowledge how much Devon loves Dominic.

Although Devon is welcome at the Chancellor mansion anytime and will always play an important role in Dom’s life, Abby will admit they’ve decided not to make any changes to the agreement.

Abby will argue that Dominic has a home with his mother and father, so she doesn’t want things to be confusing – especially since Chance is trying to make up for lost time.

Abby will want to adhere to the boundaries they previously set and will refuse to let anything disrupt Chance’s attempt to bond with Dominic.

Devon will suggest there’s nothing left to be said then. He’ll assure Abby that he’s not going anywhere when it comes to Dom, but things will end on a tense note.

Once Devon updates Amanda later, she’ll be irritated over the idea that Dominic spending time with his godfather would be confusing.

Amanda will snap that what’s confusing is a mother running off to a foreign country without telling anyone where she’s doing or why.

Amanda will think Devon has every right to be angry and disappointed. She’ll also feel like Devon has options and will give him a nudge toward taking legal action.

Devon won’t want to take Chance and Abby to court, but Amanda will present it as something to consider.

Amanda will note that Abby put Dominic in Devon’s care while she was gone. She’ll contend that Abby considers Devon to be Dominic’s “de facto father” and will suggest there are some factors working in Devon’s favor.

Amanda will point out that as Dominic’s biological father, Devon can petition the courts for visitation like many grandparents do successfully.

Plus, Chance wasn’t there when Devon signed the original contract. Since Devon’s legal agreement was with Abby alone, that complicates things.

Devon will still be wary of taking this to court since it would affect everybody, including Dominic.

Amanda will assure Devon that she’s not trying to tell him what to do, but he’ll value her perspective.

With that in mind, Amanda will admit it worries her how Chance and Abby are drawing a line in the sand.

Amanda will fear what Abby and Chance’s next move might be, but Devon won’t think they’d retaliate.

Devon will remind Amanda that Abby made it clear that he’d always have a place in Dominic’s life.

“At the end of the day, I’m the one who agreed to father their child without any written stipulations and visitation, so that’s on me,” Devon will insist. He’ll add that he just needs to continue being there for Dominic however he can.

At home, Abby will gush over how cute Dominic is before calling Chance and getting his voicemail.

Abby will wonder where Daddy could be and greet Chance when he finally comes home. Chance will mention his meeting at Crimson Lights and note that the case Rey’s working on is cool stuff.

Abby will get upset thinking Chance has already gone back to work on the force without telling her.

Chance will make it clear that he wouldn’t do that. He’ll suggest that he’s just getting the lay of the land and getting caught up for when he does go back.

Abby will think that’s a relief, though her expression won’t really reflect it throughout the rest of the conversation.

Abby will sense that Chance is really excited about putting his detective skills to good use again and will seem uneasy over him returning to the GCPD.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Chance’s dangerous job could become even more of an issue, so stay tuned.
