The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap review for the week of December 19-23 reveals that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) battled growing fears about the nature of her relationship with Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind).
Now that Johnny has become more open to spending time with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), Victoria is feeling insecure about her role as Johnny’s adoptive mom.
It was nice to see Victoria get honest about that with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and point out that his own relationship with Johnny remains unchanged.
Billy will always be Johnny’s bio dad, but it’s understandable that Victoria’s feeling threatened and unsettled right now.
Victoria is worried about blurred lines and doesn’t want to become the forgotten mom in this tricky situation.
However, Victoria has to find a way to get past her issues since Johnny clearly wants to get to know Chelsea better.
This has to be about what’s best for Johnny – and he’s old enough to make his own decisions.
Meanwhile, Y&R played up Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) as a doting daddy and set the stage for Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) to drop a baby bomb on him.
Sally talked to Nick about the wide age gap in his children since Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) is a grown man running a nightclub and Christian Newman (Alex Wilson) still believes in Santa.
Now Nick could be adding a newborn to his brood if the paternity works out in his favor.
Sally wasn’t feeling well and clutched her stomach as Y&R offered some tell-tale signs of a soap pregnancy.
Of course, Sally could just as easily be carrying Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) child, but the show highlighted Nick as a wonderful father in Sally’s eyes for now.
We should also discuss Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) and how she still feels like such an outsider.
Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) is only using Audra for professional gain and personal pleasure since he forced her to hide in the bathroom when Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) arrived.
Audra seemed interested in Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) when she hit it off with him at Crimson Lights, but her face fell when she saw him connecting with Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case).
It seems like Audra might’ve decided it wasn’t worth the effort to pursue Chance if he was already falling for someone else.
Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) has also pushed Audra away – and the IPO story feels like old news at this point.
Audra just isn’t meshing well on canvas, but maybe they can get something going with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) or find another way to incorporate Audra a bit better.
It just feels like the character could use a better sense of direction, so the show might make some Audra updates along the way.
