The Island surprises her with her childhood imaginary friend, Peaches, in real human form and helps Laura rediscover that her inner child is exactly who she needs to move on from her heartache. Isla tells Ruby about the complicated past between her people and the Roarkes .”

In tonight’s Fantasy Island episode, Ruby was feeling a little heartbroken. She was seeing Isla. Only Isla has this habit of ghosting Ruby. She would disappear for days with no call or text in warning and then she just shows up like nothing happened. She doesn’t tell Ruby where she was.
She doesn’t bother trying to explain because she doesn’t even seem to care that she’s hurting Ruby’s feelings with these disappearance acts. She’s making Ruby feel like she isn’t enough. Elena found Ruby upset on the beach. She advised Ruby to give up on Isla because if someone shows who they are its best to believe them. And so Elena asked for Ruby’s help with this new guest.
Elena tried to get Ruby’s mind off her heart break, but Laura only served to remind her. Laura had just gotten left at the altar. Her former fiancé hadn’t bothered to show up at the ceremony. He instead shot off a quick text that said he couldn’t do it. Laura was still wearing her wedding dress when she showed up on the island. She booked the vacation because it was her fantasy to finally feel what it’s like to be loved. Laura was a child of a really bad divorce. Her parents used her as a pawn against the other.
She couldn’t take a call from one without the other feeling like she was choosing a side. Meaning Laura couldn’t even talk to her parents after the worst heartbreak she’s ever suffered because they would somehow make it about themselves. Laura wanted to marry Brad because she thought he genuinely loved her. He wasn’t perfect. She hated the smell of his feet. He also couldn’t face her to dump her and so she loved the guy she thought she was marrying. Not the coward he turned out to be.
The island heard Laura’s biggest wish. They decided to bring her former imaginary friend to life. Her friend’s name is Peaches. Peaches was someone Laura created to deal with her parents’ divorce. Laura stopped believing in Peaches as she got older and so she stopped having the one person she’s never doubted. The one person she knew loved her. Peaches returned when Laura needed her most. She came alive this time. She was someone that Laura could actually see and talk to. She was also someone she could drink with.
Peaches told her all things she wanted to hear. Like how she was amazing. She deserved better than Brad and he’s the real loser in all of this. She supported Laura as she cut up her wedding dress. She also supported her as Laura came to regret cutting her dress. Peaches also did something Laura hates. She invited Laura’s parents to the island. She thought she was helping because they were kids when Laura described her parents as toxic and she thought Laura was just being dramatic. And so Peaches realized her mistake when she actually saw Laura’s parents.
They managed to turn the worst day in her life into a story about themselves. Her mother wanted a freakin award for calling everyone in the family to tell them the wedding didn’t go ahead. Her father wanted to recoup the money she lost with the cancelled venue by getting her to sue her former fiancé. It wasn’t long before the parents began yelling at each other. They both tried to make the situation about them and they forgot what Laura lost. Laura couldn’t stand her parents. She also yelled at Peaches.
Peaches only existed in the first place because Laura needed a safe place away from her parents. Laura told Peaches that and Peaches apologized. Except Peaches never really aged past twelve. Peaches still saw Laura as a kid when she wasn’t. Peaches tried to fix the mess she made. She found Laura’s old diary. She began reading out loud to Laura’s parents. She let Laura’s parents know just how much she hates them. She hates them for their selfishness. They never put her first. Even Brad once told her to create some boundaries with them.
No one that loves her, likes her parents. She has to compromise so much of her life by trying not to offend them that Peaches reading her diary out loud was a dream come true. It finally made her confront her parents. She told them she would stop trying to appease them so much. Its why Brad didn’t marry her and they’ve costed her the love of her life. Laura felt lighter after Peaches helped her. She talked to her parents and they apologized for the way they’d been treating her. They told her they’ll do better. And they told her that they do love her.
But Ruby ran into Isla. Isla came clean. Isla was told to stay away by Elena. Elena was trying to protect Ruby by getting Isla to ghost her and the truth is that Isla is a mermaid. Her siren song was the song that Ruby has been hearing all this time. Ruby thought she was in love. Elena suspected she was being manipulated. Its why she tried to protect Ruby and unfortunately Ruby lashed out at her. Ruby told Elena not to interfere with her life. She said Elena didn’t get to control her. And once Elena told Javier about what she did, he realized why she broke up with him.
Neither Javier nor Ruby were guests. They didn’t need Elena making decisions for them. They both told her to back off and let them make their own decisions and so Elena was backing off. She was going to let them make their own choices. Even if she knew they were making mistakes. Elena had been right about Isla. Isla was purposely making Ruby forget her former life and her husband Mel. She was manipulating Ruby. Ruby was the only one that couldn’t see it.
And Brad came to the island. Laura’s parents called him and it turns out he does really love Laura. He just hated being caught in the middle of her parents. And that was no longer going to be a problem from now on.
