General Hospital Spoilers reveal Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) are headed for seriously rough seas ahead. The couple have kept their new relationship on the down low on purpose recently out of concern that Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) might retaliate and report them for insider trading.
It may have been an inconvenience at the onset, and it continues to hamper their time together, but the pair have come to enjoy their not-so-dirty little secret, too.
That will all come to a screeching halt when Drew is approached by someone at the SEC about their concerns after receiving a tip from someone.
General Hospital Spoilers — The Backstory
Before Carly and Drew coupled up, they were nothing more than flirtatious friends. Carly was going through a divorce at the time, and Drew shared the news with her that he and Carly’s son, Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) were planning a merger between Aurora Media and ELQ.
Ned was firmly against the merger and got Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to vote with him at the last minute and thwart their attempt at combining the companies.
In the midst of it, Carly has purchased shares in the companies in hopes of cashing in on the merger. When it didn’t happen, she lost everything — including her half of the Metro Court Hotel.
Afterward, Ned signaled to Drew that he could use this against him and report him to the SEC.
Since then, Drew has been concerned about just that, but he would never have suspected it may not have even come from Ned.
GH Spoilers Tease Carly Ticks Off the Wrong Person
When someone reports Carly and Drew’s relationship to the SEC and they go poking around into Carly’s investments, it’ll be clear that insider trading is exactly what was going on.
Who reports them though? Ned isn’t their only enemy, although he is going to find out they’re a couple and his wife, Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) has been hiding it from him.
Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) is soon to find out that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is her birth mother, and she and Michael will discover Carly knew about it the whole time.
Still, they probably wouldn’t take Drew down with Carly even if they wanted to retaliate. However, Nina just might.
General Hospital Spoilers — As Usual, Sonny Solves the Problem for Her
Drew isn’t going to be able to fix this problem for Carly, and even if he could, it would probably look worse if he did.
Drew’s going to have his own mess to clean up, and it’s not likely that he will garner support from every Quartermaine family member.
Without Drew or Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) to help her, Carly — the classic damsel in distress — is likely to lean on her ex, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Carly won’t ask him for the kind of help he’s offering but Sonny is going to step in anyway.
When Sonny goes to bat for Carly and casts all suspicion of a relationship between Drew and Carly to the side as he claims they are a couple again, this is going to enrage Nina, who may be the culprit that turned Carly into the SEC in the first place.
