In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy recap, Lucas forgot to pay the gas bill. He forgot and so they ran out of hot water. The interns had to start showering at the hospital. Mika also kept reminding Lucas that it was all his fault. He forgot to put the bills he was in charge of on Autopay.

There was also something going on with him, but he wasn’t ready to share what that was with the group and so he kept getting in trouble. He got trouble when he checked his phone while with a patient. He got in trouble when he accidentally revealed that surgeons are constantly late to surgeries. And he was just off his game.

The other interns were meanwhile focusing on Addison returning to the hospital. Addison has become a folk hero with the way she’s been advocating abortion care.

She often droves into hostile states that outright banned abortions and she takes the patients there into states where they can get them. Addison was back at Grey Sloane because she was teaching a class on abortion care. She was teaching a bunch of OB/GYN trainees that were doing residencies in the states that have taboos and so their education would have been lacking without her.

But Addison has also dealt with trolls along the way. There were online trolls that attacked her in stories about her and who tried to find out her patient’s information.

Then there were the trolls that showed in person. They come to picket outside of the abortion clinics. They somehow figured out when she was going to be in Seattle and they showed up by the hundreds to shout “murderer” at her. These are the same people that claim to be pro-life and are still the first to get violent. And that’s what they ended up doing at Grey Sloane.

Before that happened, they were just picketing. Bailey contacted Teddy about it. She asked for the Chief’s opinion on what they should do and Teddy told security to call for backup and for the doctors to continue treating patients.

Teddy wanted to prioritize the patients. The doctors did treat several of them before someone threw a brick through the clinic’s window. Except that did change things. The brick hit Blue. He was bleeding from the head wound and that’s when the picketers stopped being picketers. They became enemy combatants.

Additional security was called to once again deal with the problem. Blue received treatment for his wound and the hospital tried to continue on. Maggie found out that her surgery was cancelled because the donor in a lung transplant had gotten into a car accident. The guy’s name was Ryan. He goes by RJ. RJ was dating Jessica and he was going to partially donate one of his lungs to her, but now that doesn’t get to happen because he got into a car accident on the way to the hospital and his lungs suffered a lot of damage.

It also didn’t help that his girlfriend’s mom never liked him. Jessica’s mother was angry at him for being late to the surgery. She claimed he only because a feminist major because he wanted to meet girls. She did everything she could to crap on him and, after his accident happened, she again blamed him for being useless to save Jessica. Jessica soon had enough of her mother. She sent her out of the room while she waited to be discharged. And again Lucas dropped the ball there because he was the one that was supposed to get her discharge papers, but he forgot.

Lucas was too busy calling the gas company. He tried to get the gas turned back on and they were asking him for the access code. Only he didn’t know it. He asked his aunt if she knew it. She told him that was usually Maggie’s thing only he didn’t want to ask Maggie. He got in trouble with her so much that day that he was afraid one more thing would be enough to send her over the edge. He ended up talking to Nick. He told Nick that he thought he would have both of his aunts and now things are harder without Meredith there.

Nick can understand that sentiment. He misses Meredith too. He told Lucas that it was okay to be upset and that he gets to process his feelings at his own pace. He also reminded Lucas to get the discharge papers for Jessica. Lucas finally did just that when Jessica asked if she could stay around to see her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend was in surgery and so she stayed in the waiting room. Which was full by the wall. The picketers have caused such a ruckus that it was impossible to get passed them to get to the front door of the clinic. And so Teddy enlisted the other doctors to help treat the many women that were coming through to the general hospital.

They weren’t all abortions cases. Some just wanted to check their blood pressure because they were pregnant and they wanted everything to go right. Then there were cervical cancer screening on top of people that needed to be checked for regular gynecological care. Then there was a pregnant woman who came in with her best friend who was having an abortion. She went into labor and she delivered a healthy baby girl right there in the clinic. And it was also revealed how the picketers find out Addison was at the hospital.

One of the OBGYN trainees had put it on social media. She wanted to brag about meeting a celebrity in her field and she ended up causing a lot of chaos. There was a reason Addison didn’t tell people where she was going to be. She changed planes twice. She had to send away her husband as well as her son. She has done everything possible to stay safe and that trainee ended up learning a valuable lesson about privacy. And just when they thought the day was over, a car managed to run over both that trainee as well as hit Addison.

The car went directly for them and so it wasn’t an accident.

And RJ made it through surgery with the minimal loss to his lungs. Meaning he could still donate to Jessica when he recovers and so there was hope.

THE END!
