In tonight’s NCIS Hawai’i episode, CGIS Special Agent Neil Pike was doing a job as an undercover. He works for the Coast Guard. He was technically a federal agent and so he was allowed to go undercover as a port worker while he tried to get information on a yakuza crime boss smuggling things into the country. He thought he would play cards or smoke some cigars with a couple of low-level thugs.

He didn’t suspect that a meeting in a shady warehouse would go wrong. But that proved to be almost a fatal mistake. Pike was at this meeting when he saw the glare of a gun and got down in time when a shooter took out everyone else at this supposed meeting.

One of the victims was a sailor. His death sparked an NCIS investigation. The tenant and her team were called in and that’s when they found Pike at the scene pretending to be someone else. He even let himself get arrested. Tennant made sure that Pike was signed over into her custody and once they were clear – he came clean.

He said he was undercover. Which she guessed. He also said that it’s been a rough three days for him. He got so lost in his cover that he claimed to no longer know when his cover began or how it all started.

Tennant made him snap out of that. She questioned him about what’s been happening. He said that the Coast Guard believes some Department of Defense weapons had been stolen and sold to gangs. They found out which port these weapons were coming through.

Pike then pretended to be a guy that could help. He really just wanted to take down the yakuza, but he got close enough to make a deal when this shooting happened. Pike had no idea who would want those men dead. Except he kept his cover and won a new meeting with the crime boss.

The man’s name was Kenji Sato. Sato was a dangerous man. Pike thought he was a little too dangerous for him and he tried to back out of the meeting. His courage was failing him. Only they reminded him that he was a Coast Guard Agent.

They told him they needed information on the guy and so Pike went to the meeting and he almost got killed for the second time. Someone must have either figured out he was a fed or they thought he was involved in the shooting he survived. Either way, Pike’s cover was blown. And he went back to being a Coast Guard.

Pike put them on a boat heading towards where he thought the guns were being held. Only they didn’t find guns in the hidden compartment. They found a man. A man who had heard about the gang war brewing on the island. The Machidas against his family, the Satos. He wanted to meet with the Machidas. Broker a peace. He wanted to keep people from dying and sadly this man was the first to die. But Tennant and her team didn’t think his death was tied to Machida’s. The Machidas wouldn’t dirty their hands to do something so low as a car bomb when they were supposed to be talking about peace.

There was just one war going on. The one Kenji had with literally everyone else. He wanted to stoke a fight. He wanted to keep stealing weapons from the DOD because he was taking down some of his own people with those weapons and he was also killing Machida people as well. Kenji was wiping out everyone on his way to ultimate power. He was even willing to kill his sister. She went to the meeting with the Machidas to make peace in her father’s name and her own brother almost shot her. what saved her was Tennant and Pike.

Kenji just kept shooting and shooting until he was stopped. He was stopped by NCIS. They shot him and he ended up going to the hospital. While he was in the hospital, his sister took control of their empire and she practically named herself the new crime boss. She could be reasoned with and her brother just couldn’t.

After the case wrapped up, Kai sought out his dad. He told him that the FBI needed full access to the restaurant to see if it was used in any money laundering scheme. The FBI was making a case against Kai’s old buddy AJ. And Kai’s dad helped by roping in other business owners that AJ supposedly helped.
