In tonight’s Quantum Leap season 1 episode 10, “Paging Dr. Song,” as per the NBC synopsis, “When Ben leaps into one of five people in an elevator at a 1962 nuclear reactor, he must figure out which one triggers a bomb that kills them all.
Each time the bomb goes off, he leaps into another one of them an hour earlier and the scene resets on a loop.”

In tonight’s Quantum Leap episode, Ben finds himself in an elevator with a military uniform on. Someone calls him a colonel. He is brought with several other people to a basement to see a nuclear reactor. They then bring him to their state-of-the-art control room. Ben looks around at his surroundings. It appears he is in the 1960s. Kennedy is president. Addison appears. She catches him up to speed. They discuss the reactor. Ben needs to shut it down, today.
Addison heads back to the team to find out more about Ben’s mission. She learns the doctor helping with the reactor will die today, of a heart attack. Jen also informs Addison about the others in the group – strangely the rest of them die too; the janitor, a journalist, and an assistant. It has to be a cover-up. Addison rushes to tell Ben but it’s too late. On his end, the reactor has exploded and Ben is dead. He has flatlined. Addison screams. Seconds later they see he is alive and they are confused.
Ben comes too. He is now the assistant he was standing next to in the elevator. The colonel, whose body he was previously in. He recognizes how strange this is. Meanwhile, the team realizes he is in some kind of time loop.
Ben, as the assistant, visits the reactor in the basement just like before. Addison arrives with tears. She thought he died. She is happy to see him. She tells him they think he is in a time loop and he will have to go through all of this again and again until Ian fixes this.
Ian tells Magic that Janice is an expert on time loops. They all look disappointed. Magic talks to her. She will only help so Ben can get out of the loop.
Ben, still in the assistant’s body, warms them all the reactor is going to explode. The doctor tells him to calm down. Ben runs around wildly trying to stop the explosion. Meanwhile, Jen tells Magic that she thinks Janice has staged all of this. Magic disagrees.
Ben dies again trying to stop the explosion. This time he and Addison discover it was a bomb that was planted that actually caused the explosion. His day starts again like Ground Hog Day after her cannot stop the reactor explosion. He is back in the elevator, now as the reporter. Jen and the others determine it is someone within the group who has planted the bomb.
Ben returns as the doctor. He feels useless. He can’t stop all of this. He needs to find out who is behind this.
Ian brings coffee in and offers it to Janice. They are on the same team as Ben after all. Ian gets a message. It might be the janitor who did it. The only problem – this isn’t a loop after all. Ben has one more shot to jump into a body he hasn’t yet. He cannot jump into it anymore. He will stay dead if he does.
Ben becomes the janitor. He is confronted by the colonel with a gun. Addison stands behind him. The colonel throws him a letter. He asks him if he is the one sending them to kill the project. The team wants Ben to be pulled from the situation but Janice tells them to let Ben finish the leap. Magic agrees much to everyone’s dismay.
The group learns it was the assistant who planted the bomb. Ben realizes the pen he is holding sets the bomb off. Ben tells him his efforts will not stop the future. He will only kill all the people in the room. They managed to stop him and save everyone’s lives.
Addison meets up with Ben to tell him about the future of those they saved. They really do change the world. Before Addison can say goodbye, Ben leaps again.
Jen and Magic argue. She doesn’t like the trust they put in Janice. He tells her he is doing his best. He should have sided with Janice years ago and let her be a part of the project. He is trying to fix that now. Meanwhile, Janice tells Addison she will tell her who got Ben into leaping!
