Tonight’s Return To Amish episode begins in Sarasota, Florida where Johnny is in Rosanna’s arms and he is crying, she tells him that she just wants him to be ok and she loves him. Jonny says he wants to go home.
One week earlier in Punxsutawney, PA in the Amish community. Rosanna says that living in an English world is hard, she couldn’t really get a job because she didn’t have her GED. When everyone went their separate ways, she went back to her Amish family. She grew up old order Amish and always wanted to see the English world so when her friend Maureen told her she was going to go live with her grandmother, she went with her.
At first she was really scared, but after that, she loved everything about the English world. She has English friends, she got an English makeover. She feels like she failed because she really wanted to make it in the English world. But God works in mysterious ways because something good happened at the end of it. She met her boyfriend Johnny through her brother, they have been together for seven months. Johnny loves her laugh and her smile, makes him feel like she really likes him. He claims he is still falling for her and never wants to hit the bottom.
In a few days, she is going back to Florida for vacation. Johnny tells her that he has everything he needs right now. He has a construction business and is very successful. Rosanna tells him that he needs a vacation too. She loves him, but Johnny wants to be Amish and he wants her to be Amish too, but she is not ready to make that commitment yet because there is still more that she wants to explore in the English world. He asks her what is so beautiful about Florida, she says the beaches, they are the colour of his eyes.
She wants to take him to Pinecraft, there are a lot of Amish people there. Johnny says he is nervous to go in the English world. He really doesn’t want to go, he is willing to experience the English world with her, but if she wants to be with him, then she will have to be Amish with him. He gives in, and tells her that he wants to bring two of his friends. Rosanna has a big decision, does she stay in the English world without Johnny or the Amish world with Johnny.
Elsewhere, in Portland, Oregon, Jeremiah and Carmela are a doctor’s office and find out that they are not pregnant again, and are so disappointed. The doctor warns them against stress which won’t help the situation. Jeremiah left the Amish community a few years ago and since his whole life has been stressful. He has always felt like an outsider. Living in the English world have caused a lot of fights with people he loves.
He never knew he truth about his biological family, so he never knew who he was. He had a hard time finding out that his father, is not his father, his mother cheated with her sister’s husband Larry HIltabidel and he was killed by his wife when Jeremiah was a year old. He found all this out in the last six months, that is stressful. They plan on going to Pinecraft to destress. There are no bishops so people get pretty wild. They rented a house with Ada, Rosanna and Maureen.
In Sarasota, Sabrina is an ex-Mennonite and it is the middle of the night, she is changing her baby’s diaper. She was adopted into the Mennonites when she was three years old, her mother was Italian, her father Puerto Rican and they struggled with addiction so she was brought up with a Mennonite family.
When she left them, she had trouble adapting to the outside world. Then she met the love her life, Jethro, and they have two babies together. Jethro left her for the second time even though they have two children together. He was also adopted by the Mennonites and both had the same struggles. She caught him texting other women, and instead of working it out, he left, not once, but twice.
Harrisburgh, PA, Ada is getting ready to go to Pinecraft and she can’t wait to see everyone. Maureen is very special to her, she lived with her and they have a special bond. Maureen always felt like there was so much more out there. She is in love with Danny, an Amish taxi driver, They fell in love and he proposed, she was so happy. Now her life is planning the wedding, she has a lot to do before she goes to Florida.
Jeremiah and Carmela arrive in Florida, they bump into Ada at the airport. Sabrina picks them up, they are so excited. Ada says she is so happy to be in Florida with everyone. Sabrina didn’t tell everyone that Rosanna is bringing her boyfriend and she just couldn’t say no. Sabrina hears them talking, she doesn’t understand Pensylvania Dutch but she does hear them talking about her and thats he could be pregnant, so she tells them to stop and says yes, she is pregnant. Last time she was pregnant as well. Sabrina says she has been pregnant for three years now. Carmela is a little envious. Sabrina says she has a lot to tell them, but it is not a car conversation.
Hopkinton, IA, Daniel says around there you are being watched, bottom line. But he hides a lot and is cautious about who sees things. This is his hometown where he grew up. His dad is the bishop, he started the community. They are still not allowed electrify but they are allowed running water, hot and cold. Growing up as a bishop’s son you have to walk a pretty straight line, he likes to do as much as he can without getting caught.
He has always had a good Amish life, he went to school from one to eight grade. He definitely didn’t feel like he was meant to be Amish, everything outside of what he had looked better to him. HIs goals is to leave the Amish, have a nice house, a good business and a nice looking woman. He hasn’t dated an Amish woman because after the third date is very serious. HI friend Johnny is going to Florida and invited him, he is nervous but feels blessed to be going with his friend and he is searching for love the Johnny has with Rosanna. It is hard for him to tell his parents, he doesn’t want to disrespect them.
Jeremiah likes the house, but it is small with only three bedrooms. The best thing about arriving first is you get to pick your room. Carmela asks Sabrina where Jethro is and she says he left again. Ada tells her that she would be way off better without him. Ada thinks Jethro needs to grow up and be a man to his family.
Back to Daniel, he is having a hard time leaving his family because they are so nice to him. Daniel heads over to his parents to tell them. He tells them that he knows that they won’t approve, but he is going to Florida to an Amish community. Daniel’s mom is crying, she can’t believe it, she is sad. Daniel says he waned to be honest instead of them heading rumours. His mother says it is a nightmare. Daniel is trying to stay optimistic about his trip but it is hard to leave his family when they are looking at you that you really shouldn’t be leaving.
Rosanna and Johnny are in the car on their way to Florida. She is so excited to show him all the wonderful things in the English world. Daniel is also on his way, he didn’t big much, he was told you don’t need much clothes in Florida. Johnny says the Amish don’t want them to see the outside world. Rosanna knows the others won’t be happy that Johnny is there, and he invited Daniel and Kenneth, but it is what she had to do to get him to go.
Rosanna and Johnny arrive at the house, he is really nervous, they walk to the backyard and Rosanna is excited to introduce them to Johnny. The moment is awkward, Johnny looks terrified. Jeremiah tells him that once he is there for a week he won’t want to leave. But Johnny doesn’t feel that way, he already wants to leave.
