Station 19 responded to a fire at Dr. Meredith Grey’s home. It was an electrical fire that started in the attic and unfortunately it had spread by time the firefighters arrived. Although, they did so their best to salvage as much as they could. They gave it all their all. They used as much water as possible and, while the house was now flooded, the overall structure of the house was at least saved. The firefighters also didn’t have to worry about anyone inside because the whole family made it out in time. They didn’t suffer any smoke inhalation. And they can always rebuild after this because again the bones were still there.

The team later returned to their firehouse. They still didn’t see Maya and everyone was just assuming that she was taking some time to herself, but that wasn’t what happened. Maya injured herself on a treadmill. She knocked herself out. And lost consciousness. Jack had luckily found her within a few minutes of the accident. He rushed her to the hospital where Maya received treatment. Maya even came to. She was disorientated at first because she had no clue how she got to the hospital. The doctors told her that she was going to be okay as long as she was treated.

The doctors also paged Maya’s wife. Maya’s wife was a doctor at their hospital. They knew Carina would want to know that her wife has been in an accident and Jack initially hadn’t wanted to be there when Carina came. He knew that Carina was still angry at him for ditching them in need. He was supposed to be helping them get pregnant when he decided to go find himself and never came back or returned their phone calls. They had to find another sperm donor in the meantime. It was then later revealed that Jack never actually left town. He simply hid at a widow’s house.

Therefore Jack has a reason to be scared of Carina. A reason he eventually ignored because he saw how bad Maya was and he chose to stick around for her. He even talked to Carina for Maya. Carina was naturally upset that her wife had landed in the hospital. She also found out her wife’s body was on its way to giving out because of overexertion. Maya was at risk of a heart attack because of all this pressure she’s putting on herself to get back her old job as captain. A job she had only gotten because no one thought Andy could handle it at that time.

Maya had walked over a friend to get a job. She then tried to pull off blackmailing her Fire Chief to get the job back after she lost it and that didn’t work out for her. She was back to being a lieutenant. Maya also found herself in trouble with her new captain for trying to steal his job from him. She was fighting with her wife. She was hiding the truth from her friends. She turned towards exercising as a way of compartmentalize everything she was feeling, but that was dangerous because what she needed a therapist and so Carina tried to talk her about one again.

Carina has been bringing up therapy for months now. She wants Maya to get professional help. Only Maya doesn’t think she needs help. She thinks that everything would solve itself once she got her job back. She’s been trying to force Captain Beckett into breaking sobriety. Someone has been reporting him for dereliction of duty. It could be her. Fire Chief Ross has been getting calls about him and so she stopped by the station to warn him to be on his best behavior from now on. And the new Fire Chief also stepped up in other ways.

Andy and Vic were called out to assist the police with an arrest. They had apparently arrested a teenage boy because he was running. They figured he must be guilty of something because he was running. The fact that he was black was something they claimed not to notice. The kid was experiencing a panic attack with the cops all over him. Vic and Andy they got him out of restraints. They talked him down. They handled his panic attack like professionals instead of like people looking for a reason to beat him up.

They called in Fire Chief Ross because the cops had called in Dixon to help arrest the teenage boy. She was able to get Dixon to back down and it forced him into filling out the proper work over what happened. He had to report that those cops harassing the teenager had in fact turned off the cameras before they started to harass this kid for no reason. They were looking for trouble that night. They found it thanks to the firefighters and the firefighters were able to return the teenager to his mother. And that will probably be the last time he goes to the supermarket at night.

The rest of the firefighters were helping a group of elderly women fulfill a scavenger hunt. Those women also helped them in return. They made Montgomery see that he didn’t have to sink to Dixon’s level to compete with Dixon in running for Mayor. But it was too late for him to change his mind. He had linked that Dixon was in a domestic dispute and now that was out there. The team later found out that Maya was in the hospital. They were told the news as well that Maya would be out on leave for a while.

Jack will be covering for Maya at the station. It turns out Maya tried to sign herself out against doctor’s orders and so they put her on a psych hold for seventy-two hours against her will. Maya of course blamed Carina for this. She swore up and down that she would divorce her. And Carina no longer cared about saving their marriage, she just wanted Maya to live.

Carina went home and she packed a bag and so she’s not going to fight Maya over a divorce.

The End
