Tonight’s The Bachelor episode begins in Budapest and Zach thinks it is the perfect place to fall in love. He has feelings for all the women and is more than confident going into hometown dates.
The women are exploring Budapest, Kaity is feeling really confident about her connection with Zach. Gabi really wants Zach to meet her family, she feels like she talks about them all the time, getting the rose would mean every thing to her. Charity really misses Zach and can’t wait to see him.
Zach meets up with Jesse and tells him that he is doing really great. Jesse tells him that Greer is on her way to Budapest now. Zach says he has so many connections and wakes up with a smile on his face every morning. They talk about Ariel and Zach says he wasn’t expecting their connection to be as strong as it was. Although he has always felt an attraction and connection to Kaity.
Kat and he fell off last week but once he is with her the connection springs back. Jesse tells Zach that he is going to have his second one on one date with one woman today, and it is for Kaity, “lets fall in love in Budapest.” Brooklyn wanted that one on one, she finds it unsetting that Zach said fall in love. Kat feels unseen.
Time for the date, Kaity feels really good about her connection with Zach, but nothing is guaranteed. They head to a Funicular where they climb a mountain to the top of the city. They head to a vendor and get some chasers, then speak to some locals who ask them about getting married and Zach blushes. They stop at a place where there is a typewriter and they both type poems to each other. They seal them with a kiss. Katy is enjoying the date, she knows they have a strong connection and worries that her heart could get broken.
Meanwhile, the other women are talking about the next date card just before it arrives, and this one if for Ariel, Charity, Gabi and Kat, “love is the only thing on my mind.” This means that Brooklyn got the last one on one before hometowns and she is so excited. The women talk about Greer who also got COVID and they say when she returns if she gets a rose it is not fair.
Kat is upset, she doesn’t understand why Zach didn’t choose her.
Kaity tells Zach that he wouldn’t get to meet her dad because he left and missed out on so many milestones in her life that she hasn’t felt close to him. But, her mother remarried and that is the man who she considers her father. When she was in grade 8 he left and that was hard for her to wrap her head around, she lost two father figures.
Zach gives Kaity the one on one rose, its official, he will be meeting her family. The two finish up dinner and then head into a hot bath together. Kaity says she just needs a little more time with Zach to be able to tell him that she is falling in love with him.
The next day, Kat thought she would get the one on one and she didn’t. She is hoping that they can get back on track. Time for the group date, the women walk into a theatre, its dark and very scary. Budapest is the birth place of magic. A magician tells them to put out their hands and try them over. Then, he draws a small heart on Zach’s hand and then blows, it then appears on Gabi’s hand and he says their connection is real.
Next, he is going to read their minds and he does, one by one and freaks out the women. It’s Kat’s turn and she starts crying, she says the last few days have been emotional. The mentalist asks her if she is the right person for Zach and she says yes. That is it for the date, the women felt beaten down and exhausted, that was stressful.
Later, at the cocktail party Zach thanks the ladies for sharing and says it was a unique experience. He says the rose says that he is confident to meet that person’s family. On that note, he toasts to the women.
Charity sits down with Zach and reassures him that she is there for the right reasons. She was hurt, but she is ready to move on.
Gabs breaks down in front of the women, the mentalist really took his toll on all the women. She tells Ariel that a fear is woken in her that she didn’t know was there when the mentalist said that she confuses people. She is feeling very much in her head. She is worried that her ADHD is going to be too much for Zach. She sits down with Zach and he is understanding, gives her the reassurance and support that she needs.
It is Kat’s turn to sit with Zach, he tells her that he was nervous when she was asked if she wanted him to meet her family and she said “I think so.” Kat starts to cry, she says she was so disconnected from him in the last week, but she knows how good she feels about the two of them and she would never walk away. After talking more, they both feel better and Zach seals it with a long kiss.
Time for Zach to give out the rose, he gives it to Gabi and tells her that he is sure that he wants to meet her family and move forward. Kat is more sad, she was vulnerable and was expecting the rose, she starts crying but tells Gabs that she is happy for her, she just feels not wanted.
Greer is so happy to be back, testing negative she feels like the stars are aligned. She understands that time has gone by, but she hopes their connection is strong enough that they can get back on track. They meet in his room to catch up. She tells him that she feels amazing. When she found out she tested positive she thought that her story with him was going to end. She sees something with him and wants to know how he feels.
There is an air of awkwardness and he tells her that he has to be honest, he is just not feeling it and can’t give her a rose and meet her family. She starts crying and says she completely understands. He tells her that she is incredible and it is nothing that she did. She thanks him for being honest and transparent with her and thanks him for the time he has spent with her, she has grown a lot.
It was a tough morning, but it is time for Zach’s date with Brooklyn and they go do what the locals do, ride a bike. Brooklyn says the last time she was on a bike was when she was 12.
Next, they go in a hot air balloon. Then they go to an old iconic Hungarian bath house. They meet couple who is married and met at the bath house 25 years ago. They kiss and the crowd cheers them on.
At dinner they talk and Brooklyn tells Zach that she looks forward to his meeting her grandmother and grandmother, and her mom and step dad. Zach is so touched by her sharing that her father walked out of her life, he needs a moment. If he is not feeling confident, if he is not feeling sure, who is he to be in that house.
He returns to her and tells her that this is a lot process and he knows this is serious for her, and that she deserves love. But, this entire week he hasn’t been able to figure it out, something didn’t click, he had the biggest struggle today, he doesn’t want to force it, and it is not fair to her for him to not be full invested. She deserves love that he can’t give her and he is sorry. She takes it like a pro, thanks him for his honesty, he walks her out.
Time for the Rose Ceremony, Zach apologizes to the women in advance, he tells them this is going to be a tough one. There are only two roses to give out, the first one goes to Ariel. The last and final rose tonight, the women getting a home town date with Zach, is Charity. Kat is going home, she has a look on her face that she knew this was coming.
Kat says goodbye to the women, has them all. Next, she walks towards Zach and walks her out. Charity tells Kaity she is in shock.
Chris tells Kat that he doesn’t know where to start, he is so sorry. Kat asks him why. He says they had the strongest connection in the Bahamas and it changed, he couldn’t see a confident future and he didn’t want to lie to her. She says she pushed hard because she did see a future and she shared so much because she thought it would be worth in the end, she tried, she really did.
Jesse meets Zach outside and Zach breaks down. He tells Jesse that when he was in the Bahamas he had no doubts, he didn’t expect it to be like this at all.
