In tonight’s The Masked Singer episode, the Bell was introduced this season. It was there to save contestants that the judges felt didn’t deserve elimination and so tonight was a smaller competition between those contestants for the chance to get back into the regular competition.

Up first was Medusa. Medusa was an incredible talent. She indicated that she might have been on a similar competition meaning she might have gotten a leg up on “American Idol” or “The Voice” or it could be a red herring for other shows like “Celebrity Big Brother”. The only thing she alluded to was that she competed on a television show. There’s no telling what show she was talking about or what format it was.

People were just assuming it was a voice competition because Medusa does have a great voice. She performed Shawn Mendes’s “Mercy” tonight. She sounded amazing like she always does and her final clue were the words “alias”.

She said she was known by her family by her actual name, but the world knows her by her alias. Robin was thinking Ke$ha because the dollar sign might not be her real name. Ken was naturally being the funny one by suggesting Susan Boyle. He said Susan Boyle is a lovable person with a great voice.

Which was true. She just wasn’t Medusa. The audience booed Ken and they clapped for Nicole after Nicole suggested Medusa might be Lorde. The sun clue could be a sign of her album that was titled “Solar Power”. Only there were more artists to hear from. There was the Gargoyle.

The Gargoyle admitted he’s performed in front of large audiences before. He also mentioned he knew what it was like to be an underdog. The judges were theorizing he was an athlete until they heard him singing. And now they knew he was a singer.

Gargoyle has to be a singer because he sounded too clean. It’s like he’s been giving concerts all his life. He performed “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” and everyone loved it. He has real gift of a voice. He also admitted that he likes playing his own tracks to help het him in the zone. He was giving lots of sports clues. Robin thought he could be Desan Jackson. He was a footballer who also raps. It ties in with all the sports clues. It also meant he was involved in the music industry. And that could be why he’s so good at it.

Next up was the Mantis. The Mantis was saved last time because he managed to pick the best song. It was his song selection that touched Robin because he said it was both his father’s and his son’s favorite song. So Robin saved him for sentimental reasons. He also thought the Mantis had a good voice. He performed “You Really Got Me” tonight. He sounded great. He got the audience on their feet and he revealed he was a movie star. He said he wasn’t the first person people tend to think of when they need a leading man.

He also has been in more movies than Ken. His code word tonight was “Movie Maverick”. Was he in the Top Gun sequel? Was he in the original? It’s unclear and so Ken dominated the conversation by saying this person could be Brendan Frasier. Brendan has been in a lot of movies. More than Ken. He also stopped getting cast as the leading man in movies and it took a long time for him to crawl his way back to the top. He was an actor that’s known strife. He just wasn’t the Mantis And its unfortunate that the Mantis was the first to be eliminated.

Robin thought Mantis was Dennis Quade. Nicole thought Mantis was Seven Buscemi. Jenny thought the Mantis could be Kevin Bacon. And Ken still thought he was Brendan Frasier. They bent all the clues to fit their theories and they had been wrong. The Mantis surprised them all by being Lou Diamond Phillips. The clues were all there saying it was him only they didn’t make a connection until they saw him and now they all feel stupid. It wasn’t until he sang the song he’s known for that remembered that voice.

The two remaining contestants had a battle royale. They had to perform “Centuries” and Medusa’s take on the song was so soulful that it was just beautiful to watch. Medusa won this round first unofficially. Then officially. Medusa was rejoining the cast in the competition. All that was left was to unmask the Gargoyle. Robin thought Gargoyle was Joey Bosa. Nicole thought he was Marshawn Lynch. Ken thought he was Anthony Mackie. And Jenny thought he was Michael B. Jordan, but he was revealed to be Keenan Allen and so Robin had been close when he named Keenan’s teammate.

THE END!
