The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) hint could set the stage for a custody battle. Phyllis is going way too far in her quest for revenge on Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), so Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) is rightfully angry over her teaming up with a felon like Jeremy Stark (James Hyde).
However, Phyllis obviously feels like her actions are justified.
Although most of what Phyllis is doing comes from a place of vengeful rage, she’s trying to tell herself that Summer must be protected from the likes of Diane.
In Y&R’s March 22 episode, Phyllis says she hopes Summer never knows what it’s like for her child to turn their back on her.
Could that turn out to be a hint about Harrison Abbott (Kellen Enriquez) and some custody battle drama?
Summer has come to love Harrison as if he were her own flesh and blood.
Although Summer isn’t Harrison’s biological mother, she really stepped up in the mom department and filled that role after Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) went to prison.
Of course, Tara won’t stay locked up forever, so it’s just a matter of time until Summer has to compete with her for Harrison’s attention.
Summer could easily find out what it’s like for a child to turn his back on her – just like Phyllis hinted.
What happens when a newly free Tara wants custody back and feels threatened by Summer’s stepmom status?
Tara might do her best to turn Harrison against Summer, which could cause issues in Summer and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) marriage, too.
Kyle and Summer may try to stand against Tara in a custody battle, but Tara could have a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to retaliating in court.
Tara may be a dirty schemer, but she loves her son and will no doubt do everything in her power to be with him when the time comes.
That could lead to bad news for Summer’s connection to Harrison, especially if Harrison tries to poison him against his stepmom.
Will Summer face the pain of a broken bond with Harrison eventually? Will Harrison turn his back on Summer and want to be with his biological mother instead?
