The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) may not be done with each other just yet. Y&R fans know Billy and Lily had a pretty mature breakup, which is important to remember when we’re thinking about what’s next.
It might be different if Lily and Billy had a super dramatic split with insults, name-calling and a shouting match.
However, Billy and Lily were sensible about the whole thing once they realized therapy wasn’t going to save their relationship.
There was still a lot of love left in their hearts when Lily and Billy officially broke up. That lingering love could serve as a way to create some obstacles for their new romances.
Since Lily and Billy are trying to be friends, it could make it easier for them to drift back in each other’s direction.
Even if Billy and Lily still don’t have a future together, they could still surrender to temptation if it arises.
In the May 25 episode, Billy and Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) awkward dinner conversation with Lily and Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) proves Lily and Billy still know each other quite well.
In fact, Billy and Lily know each other better than their current romantic partners, which is perhaps to be expected since Lily and Billy were together for quite some time.
Daniel and Lily go way back, but he’s just now reconnecting with her after many years. Likewise, Billy and Chelsea are still figuring out what their own reconnection looks like at this stage of their lives.
The show might be laying the groundwork for Billy and Lily to fall back into old patterns at some point.
When drama inevitably pops up as it tends to do in Genoa City, Lily and Billy might turn to each other for familiar comfort.
Christel Khalil previously told SOD that she hoped Y&R would bring Billy and Lily back together, so maybe she’ll get her wish – at least in the form of a hookup or two.
