In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Jared Lennox was trouble. He was stationed at the firehouse to deliberately bring them down. He was making complaints against all of them and he merely started with Violet. He went on to make complaints against Severide as well. Severide couldn’t stand the sight of him.

They were all shocked when Lennox showed up for his second day like nothing happened. Like he didn’t try to harm multiple careers. He even complained about Mouch and all Mouch did was fight a parking ticket from the city. Lennox really was the worst.

They just couldn’t do anything about him for now. There was no law against ticking people off. He was allowed to return to work and their ambulance was soon called out to a dialysis center.

There were several people coughing. There were several people passing out. It couldn’t have been caused by the dialysis machines alone and so Kidd searched for a cause until she found smoke coming from a supply closet. She didn’t know what was causing the smoke. She only knew that it was probably hazardous material.

Kidd gave the order to clear the building. She called for additional firefighters. They showed up before the hazmat team did and the smoke was getting larger. It wasn’t disbursing outside. Severide gave the order for his squad to enter the building. They got to the cause of the smoke. They helped put it out.

They saved the day, but Kidd had recognized her old training teacher at the academy as one of the patients. He helped train both her and Carver. They figured they should check on him after everything. They couldn’t get in touch by phone. And so they took the rig over to his house.

They remembered Charlie as being old school. He was the type to try and walk off a broken leg. It must suck now that he needs dialysis. His old students merely wanted to see he was alright. They stopped by his house. They knocked on his door and Carver could see he was down on the ground from the window.

They broke into his house. They rushed him to the hospital. It seems Charlie’s veins ruptured after his dialysis. Charlie’s wife died years ago. They never had children. He more or less adopted the kids he was teaching at the academy. Its why Carver and Kidd wanted to stay involved in his case.

Carver had noticed the new kid wasn’t treating the situation as seriously as he should. He tried to talk to Gibson about it. Gibson seemed pretty okay. He didn’t appear as if he was troubled by anything or needed to talk. Carver still said he was there to talk if Gibson needed it.

They agreed to meet for drinks after work. Gibson never showed. He left Carver waiting for him and he didn’t have the decency to return any of Carver’s messages. Gibson had spent the night with a new woman he met. She happened to work at Chicago Med as a doctor.

Gibson tried to sweet talk her the next morning into giving him painkillers. She must have realized what their night was really about because she made excuses to leave as quickly as possible.

Gibson pretended like his medication was lost. He said that the pharmacist said it was too soon to refill. It was all a lie because Gibson it seems has a problem with drugs. No one at the firehouse knew about it. They were more concerned with Lennox. Chief Boden figured out why Robinson sicked Lennox on them like an attack dog.

Fire Chief Hill was retiring. The top job in the Fire Department was becoming available. There were several names in the running to replace her and two of them were Boden and Robinson.

Robinson intentionally put Lennox at 51 to sink Boden’s chances. Boden realized that. He tried to talk Robinson into backing off. She refused to do so. Boden was considering taking this higher up the food chain when Gibson went off on Lennox. He just went off one day. He was high strung from not getting drugs.

The others had to tell Gibson to back off. He did because he realized the drugs was pushing him to confront a man for no reason. They were never going to convince Lennox to stop working for Robinson. They couldn’t force him. They couldn’t sweet talk him either. He had to see the light on his own.

Which he never got around to. There was a moment with Violet. It could have changed everything. They got called to a biker bar. This biker had broken his clavicle. He almost killed Lennox for cutting his jacket because bikers as well as biker gangs were big on team jackets. And so Lennox didn’t want to ride with the patient in the back afterwards.

He asked Violet to break the rules by letting him drive. She did because she’s a kind person. She also couldn’t help rubbing it in that he was the one that wanted to break the rules and she was helping him by not being a monster.

Well, Boden didn’t know about this heart to heart. He went over Robinson’s head to complain about her to Hill. Hill felt he was overreacting. She thought he was another man complaining about a woman in power. Boden complaining like he did could cost him his career now.

Boden then put Lennox back into the floater pool. He refused to have Lennox at his firehouse any longer and so he was kicked out of 51. Boden gave Lennox some words of wisdom before the other man left. He told him to safeguard his own career instead of just hers.

Carver meanwhile spoke to Gibson. He could tell he was strung out on drugs. He figured it out. Gibson tried to play it off. He said he didn’t have a problem. He went on to punch a mirror afterwards. And Kidd found him with his hand wound in the shower crying.

Gibson was going to get help. The same goes for Charlie. Charlie’s kidneys were perfectly healthy. He was misdiagnosed by a doctor with bad reviews and who sent Charlie to a dialysis that the doctor sits on the board of. He was literally referring patients to himself. Kidd and Carver were going to stop him. When they aren’t putting Gibson is a drug rehab center that is.

Gibson could stay to enjoy the prank war amongst the firefighters, but he did thank Carver for keeping things straight with him.

And Robinson was removed from the shortlist for interim Fire Chief. So now she’s angry. She wants revenge and she’s coming after Boden with all that she has.

THE END!
