In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Segreant Voight was abducted from his own home. He didn’t put up a fight because he was drugged beforehand. He was at his normal bar. He thought he was safe drinking there. The serial killer identified as Frank Matson must have found out Voight was looking into him and he abducted Voight for one last thrill ride.

Matson was seen around Voight’s property when he went missing. Matson was wearing his lock-keep uniform and the neighbor thought he was one of Voight’s cop buddies. Matson loved to get off on the power of that uniform. He was a serial killer whose MO was forcing people that love each other watch as the other dies.

Matson was a married father of one. His wife thought he was a god fearing man. She refused to believe her husband could be a serial killer and she didn’t want her daughter helping the cops.

Before the mother intervened, Detective Burgess heard from little Lucy what car her father was driving. He was driving a gray sedan. It wasn’t registered to them. He probably stole it. He didn’t know that Lucy saw him get into the unknown car. Lucy had early release from school that day. And her father forgot he was supposed to watch her.

She came home early. She saw him grab items from the garage. She saw him in the strange. He never came into the house and that’s why he forgot he was supposed to watch his daughter that day.

The cops couldn’t get anymore information out of Lucy after that because her mom shut it down. Only it was enough. They placed a gray sedan in Voight’s neighborhood. They tracked it through street cams. They thought they placed it at a warehouse. Petrovic tried to tell them that it was coming to them too easy.

Matson had plenty of time to map out how he was going to take Voight. He wouldn’t want to be caught until he was finished with him. Matson was only finished with him once Voight calls the person he loved the most. He was torturing Voight to get that information. Matson got off on causing the ultimate pain.

He was a sadist. He probably tried out to be a real cop and got turned down. The same thing might have happened with the military as well. Matson practically confessed to the crimes with a cousin-in-law that was former military because he was trying to show off.

Matson confessed to Voight that he abducted him because he had to have him. He sees people as his playthings. Matson said this was the only time he feels something. He felt nothing when he got married or had a child or gained friends. He felt nothing with them. He only feels something when he kills people. It’s his only joy.

He has to kill two people together. He doesn’t like change. Matson was torturing Voight because he wanted Voight to call Detective Upton and he wanted to kill them together.

When he was stabbing Voight, Voight pushed into the knife. It cut an artery. He was bleeding out. Matson started to freak out because he only met to shallowly cut Voight.

He didn’t want his fun to be over and so he unraveled. It bought Voight some time. His people needed as much time as possible. Their lead was a bust. Petrovic was right when she said it was too easy. The car got stolen by the owner’s son and he took it to go get high. He was there with a bunch of addicts when the cops busted in.

They didn’t find Voight. They had to go back to looking for him. They put a wire tap on all of their phones in case Matson calls them to complete his MO. They all tracked down the burner cells that Matson has been using. The burner cells were pinging from three locations. Voight’s team split up so that they could all search the sites.

Upton ran into Matson on her trip. Matson was demanding she get into his car or he won’t tell her where Voight is. Matson has been watching both Voight and Upton. He knows how much they mean to each other. Voight wouldn’t call Upton. And so Matson turned on the burner cells.

He was hoping to lure Upton in. It worked. She could either torture for him information or she could let him bring her to Voight. She let him zip tie her. He took her to a house with a basement.

Upton fought back when they got to the house. She locked several doors to keep Matson out. She eventually found Voight in the basement. He told her he didn’t want to see her there. He was injured. She was injured. How were they going to get out of this situation? Upton undo Voight’s ties. They then used the door to the basement to force the gun off of Matson.

Matson was able to shoot Upton in her side. Voight then went crazy on Matson. He clawed his eyes and then he beat Matson’s head into the cement floor. Matson was very much dead.

They grabbed his burner phone to call for help. The rest of the team arrived. Both Upton and Voight received medical treatment. And they both checked themselves out early.

Voight and Upton talked for a while. He said earlier in his delirium that he didn’t want this for a daughter. Upton thought it was sweet that he thought of her as a daughter.

Only she came broken. She needed time to heal and to do that she needed to leave Intelligence. She didn’t want to go, but she knows she has to leave for her own good. And so she was joining the FBI.

THE END!
