In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Lucas had moved in with his aunt. Amelia didn’t mind his company at first. She was feeling lonely. She was going to get a cat and so Lucas moving in seemed like an answer to the loneliness. Until she remembered what it was like to share again.

Lucas eats through her groceries. He drank most of her coffee. He was like another child. He also doesn’t pick up after himself or clean. Amelia was thinking of evicting him when she returned to work and she remembered there’s someone she dislikes more than sharing. And that was Dr. Monica Beltran.

Just seeing the new doctor was enough to anger Amelia. Amelia couldn’t bring herself to share an elevator with this woman. She took the stairs recently and she didn’t want Monica’s input on surgery. Amelia was roped in by the returning Dr. Arizona Robbins into a surgery.

The surgery was the first of its kind. They were going to perform neurosurgery on a fetus still in utero. The fetus has a condition that results in neurological problems on the off chance it survives birth at all. Arizona wanted to do a brand new surgery on the baby.

It could potentially save hundreds of lives if successful. The mother however doesn’t want her child to be a test subject. Vida has had two miscarriages prior to her current pregnancy. She’s the furthest she’s been in any pregnancy and she doesn’t want to risk her baby with a brand new surgery.

She doesn’t want her child to be the test subject. She would rather take the chance that the baby will somehow survive on its own than risk putting a needle into the fetus’s brain. Her husband disagreed with her assessment.

He researched Arizona. He knows all about her successful surgeries. He also knows the baby has little chance of surviving without intervention. He wants to go ahead with the surgery and while they can still have the surgery. If his wife changes her mind down the road, it might be too late to save the child.

It’s why the husband stopped Arizona from leaving. He said he’ll work on his wife. He wants to go ahead with the surgery. He knows realistically it’s their only chance. Lucas was on Amelia’s service that day and he suggested they convince the mother to have surgery.

Amelia said that doctors don’t do that. Arizona had heard their conversation. She thinks she found a way to convince the mom to have surgery and to do it while not outright doing so. Arizona wants to show Vida a 3D print out of what will happen. The interns were put in charge of printing it out.

Lucas and Simone were given the task. It was hard on them to work together because the interns were all interviewed by the hospital’s lawyers. The lawyers wanted to get an idea of how bad the interns messed up. And Simone confessed to them she wouldn’t have opened Sam without Lucas’s input.

Lucas felt like he had been thrown under the bus so that she could save her career. He wasn’t the only one thrown by the lawyers. The lawyers also dented Blue’s confidence. Blue was so scared to do any procedure much less small ones. He kept seeing Maxine in all of his patients.

He wanted Schmitt to oversee everything. He was put on Dorian’s care. Dorian woke up. He tried to fight everyone at first because the last thing he remembered was getting robbed at gunpoint. The doctors were able to calm him. They reassured him that he was safe now.

Dorian’s lung also collapsed. Blue was still frozen on acting by himself. He made Schmitt reinflate the lung. Apparently, Bailey’s new teaching method also wasn’t helping anyone. The interns weren’t allowed into the OR. They had to do lists. Arizona found out about that and she talked Bailey into changing that.

The interns weren’t going to learn by doing lists. They needed to see surgeries. Bailey raised great doctors. She won an award for it. She needed to go back to that and she eventually did with Arizona urging her.

Now, these interns were trouble. Lucas and Simone lost a patient a few weeks back. Blue ignored a DNI in place. Jules didn’t do anything then only she did something tonight. She let her brother be around patients. Her brother wasn’t a doctor. He was a wellness influencer. He does yoga.

He dated a Pilates instructor for about a month. He now thinks he can help people make medical decisions. He calls himself Dr. Millin online and so people were coming to the hospital to be treated by him. Jules found out about it. She stepped in to act like a real doctor. She helped a man with a cyst and stopped her brother for being sued.

Doug even showed up in surgical scrubs. He passed out once the cyst popped. He woke up on a bed and he kept calling his sister because he got scared waking up alone. Jules had to leave the OR to go to him. She missed out on witnessing surgery, the first of its kind because of her stupid brother.

Jules went off on Doug. Owen had to step in to tell Doug to stop pretending to be a doctor. His sister was the real doctor and she missed out on a successful surgery. It turns out the other interns didn’t take in the magic of the moment either.

They were all bored. Bailey really does have her hands full with this new batch of interns. She got her fire back and she later told off the interns. She said that none of them were allowed back into the OR until they all had completed their procedures lists. Which sucked for Mika because she finally finished her list.

Lucas at least remembered to get groceries before returning to Amelia’s place. Amelia understands that the first year residency was hard. She was on drugs during most of hers. And so she offered Lucas some leeway.

And now the interns have to work together.

THE END!
