SWAT Recap

Tan failed a driving exercise. He was technically supposed to grade the rookies doing it. Only he thought it looked easy as well as fun when Gamble did it. Tan thought he could do it too. He ended up damaging the back of the car and he knew he’d get in trouble with Hicks.

Hicks took a rookie to task for doing the same thing a few weeks ago. He’d probably be even worse with Tan. Tan feared as much and so Gamble told him to hold off on doing that. She said she might have a way to fix the car without anyone noticing.

Tan was still freaking out when Deacon called for backup. The whole team was called in when Deacon ran into a few gunmen. The gunmen were driving around. They opened fire on another car.

They shot up the guy in the passenger seat and even followed the driver to the hospital because they weren’t done trying to kill the boyfriend. The boyfriend was injured, but the girlfriend was fine. She was merely grazed by a bullet. She rushed her boyfriend to the hospital and she ran into Deacon.

Deacon had been there for what he hoped was his daughter’s last MRI. And he got into a shootout with the gunmen when they followed the couple.

They didn’t care that the hospital was crowded. Or that they injured several people passing by. The gunmen only fled when Deacon started firing at them and they didn’t want to get injured. Deac stayed at the scene until his team arrived. They talked to the girlfriend. Her name is Anu Bose.

Her boyfriend Vasu Singh. He was rushed into surgery. It was just Anu that could answer questions. She has no idea why those people were firing at them. She initially thought it was a road rage incident until she remembered what happened a few weeks ago.

Anu felt like someone was following her a few weeks ago. She kept seeing this one car. She took a photo of it in case she ever saw that car again and she didn’t see it. The gunmen came in an entirely different car. Plus, Anu never saw the man that was following her in the original car while the gunmen were all South Asian.

Anu was the same. Both she and her boyfriend were ethnically from that area. They’ve been dating for the past year. He was her first serious boyfriend. She hasn’t told her parents about him and so they hired a private investigator.

It was the private investigator that was following her around. The parents wanted answers. They weren’t getting that from Anu and so they hired this guy to essentially tell them what their daughter gets up to.

It was very much overkill. Hondo was having the same problem with his toddler. It was time to send Vivi to preschool only the parents disagreed on which school it should be.

Nichelle wanted to send their only child to an open and friendly environment. Hondo wanted to send Vivi to a place with bars on the windows and a metal detector.

Nichelle thought Hondo’s preferred daycare was a kiddy prison. Hondo felt Nichelle’s choice was without structure. They were still fighting about it when Hondo put down a deposit at his preferred daycare in order to save a spot for Vivi. Well, Nichelle found out about the deposit.

She thought Hondo made a decision about their daughter without talking to her and so they were fighting. They were fighting over a toddler. Imagine how bad it had to be over Anu. Anu was a grown woman and her parents still wanted to know everything.

They have another daughter. Their older daughter’s marriage failed. She got divorced and they didn’t want the same thing for Anu. They wanted to choose the man she marries.

They thought they were helping and really they were just smothering their daughter. Anu loves Vasu. They’ve been together for a while. She would have introduced him to her parents if their religion hadn’t been a problem.

Anu was Hindu like her parents. Vasu was Sikh. Anu thought her parents wouldn’t like him because of that.

It turns out her parents don’t like Vasu because he was an extremist. The college student runs a website calling for a Sikh separatist movement. Like the British did to India when they created Pakistan.

The Sikh want their own country carved out of the motherland and Anu’s parents were worried that Vasu was courting problems with this website. They weren’t entirely wrong. They didn’t hire the men that tried to kill Vasu. The men that were trying to kill him were disgruntled men who’ve lost people due to an earlier Sikh separatist movement in the 80s.

Thousands died in the 80s’s for that movement. The new kids nowadays forget that as they tried to push for the return of said movement. They saw Vasu’s website as the Sikh community stirring up a new holy war. They targeted him.

They were also going to target everyone else involved with the website. Vasu works with two of his Sikh friends. SWAT tried to warn these friends that they were in danger and unfortunately the call came too late. The gunmen had found them. They were hunting them when SWAT later showed up.

One of the gunmen shot one of the friends. The other tried to flee. Tan and Gamble chased them in the car. They messed that one up, but they got their man and they had the other car fixed on the sly.

Gamble’s brother fixed the car for them. Leon was her twin. He also has a record. He demanded a favor in return for the car. Tan was worried it was an illegal favor. It wasn’t. Leon merely wanted Gamble to come over for family dinner with their mom. And Tan knew that it would help her in the long run.

Powell meanwhile heard back from Thomas. He was going to finish school and then go on tour. He was doing what his parents wanted. He also liked that Powel kept trying to reach out to him.

It made him feel secure in their relationship. And Powell has Hicks to thank because he’s the one that gave her advice to keep calling.

And Hondo and Nichelle realized they both have to compromise with what they thought best for Vivi.

The End
