In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, the first responders have seen it all. They’ve done it all. Tonight was the first time ever they’ve been called into space just to provide first aide assistance. The space part wasn’t even a joke. They literally were forced to go into Space because of astronauts in trouble.
It’s a thing now that billionaires go into space. They were up in space mapping the next frontier, but something went on wrong with this last trip. There was debris. It collided with their space station. The astronauts and the people down are earth were in trouble now that the debris was falling from the very sky. And the 118 was remembering Bobby while chaos ensued.
They dedicated their firehouse to Bobby. They wanted to remember their Captain. They also wanted everyone that visited the firehouse to know that this was Bobby’s house.
This was where he turned a team into a family and so they held a ceremony to rename in the honor of their fallen. The only person not there was Bobby’s widow. It had looked like she went on a date when really she was working. She was about to arrest someone when the feds swooped in. They stole her case right from under her.
Athena was using work as an outlet. It allowed her to forget that she lost her husband. Its just that not showing up for the renaming ceremony was bad. Her kids showed up. Athena didn’t.
It made everyone that cares about her concerned. They tried calling her and it went straight to voicemail. She lost her husband. She lost her home because of that fire. Her son was staying with his sister and they hated sharing that one bathroom. It’s just that Athena wasn’t ready to move on. Either from her husband’s death or her house burning down.
Her boss had to speak to her. She knew that Athena will burn herself out if she doesn’t slow down. She saw the feds taking the case as a gift because it forced Athena to take some time.
Athena was offered a desk job. She turned it down. She loved her job. She didn’t want to sit behind a desk all day. She’s lost a loved one before and she threw herself into work then. She wanted to do the same again. Only her boss put her foot down. Athena was going to be on light duty. It was time she noticed the world around because apparently her son Harry dropped out of high school.
It was his senior year. The same for Mae. They both needed to focus on school and Harry dropping out couldn’t have come at the worst time. He claimed he did it because he wanted to start making from now, but being a barista wasn’t going to be enough for him to move into a bigger place in LA.
Athena would have yelled at him at work if she hadn’t gotten a call about a drunk school bus driver. Not that the guy was actually drunk. The air conditioner malfunctioned and it lowered everyone’s glucose. This included fifteen children on board.
They got it worse because they were smaller than the bus driver. In order to treat the kids properly, they had to give them alcohol. Chimney just knew he was going to be fired as interim captain over this. Hen got a call from Chief Simpson later that thought was for Chimney and it wasn’t. It was for her.
Hen had saved the life of billionaire bad boy Tripp Hauser. Hauser was kayaking when he got swallowed by a humpback whale. He was very controversial and he was supposed to be in a board meeting when he went kayaking.
Chimney got the whale to spit him out. Hen was the one that revived him. Tripp now wants to reward her for saving his life. He was donating money to the LAFD. He also wanted to find a private trip for her to space. Hen asked for a plus one. She thought of taking her rocket scientist wife with her. Karen just couldn’t go.
Her company was suing Tripp. She wasn’t going to be allowed to go to space. Karen still wanted Hen to go and it left Hen with a second ticket that was now free. Her friends all wanted to be her plus one.
They openly competed for it. Only Hen ultimately decided to take Athena with her. Athena blew it after she found her son quit school. She wanted to blame Mae and Mae said she wasn’t his mother. Athena hasn’t been a parent to her two kids since Bobby died. They knew it and they finally told Athena as much. Athena checked out.
They’ve tried to spend time with her. They’ve asked her to have dinner with them every week and she never shows. Hen and Karen have been there more for those kids than Athena has.
Athena was feeling low. She saw a woman nearly died after she pushed everyone away. Athena didn’t want to end up like her and so she went to Hen. They talked.
Finally, talked after all the times that Athena blew her off as well. Athena express her loneliness and Hen invited her to space. She knew Athena felt too guilty to turn her down when she did it.
And their space trip was going to be something they both regret.
THE END!
