In tonight’s American Ninja Warrior episode, it’s Night One of the National Finals! ANW decided to switch things up this year. They were going to have ninjas directly compete against each other on a side by side course. There was the Shrinking Steps, Swinging Frames, Pole Grasper, Salmon Ladder, Floating Monkey Bars, and even the Piston Plunge.

All of which they brought back just for the obstacle course tonight. The first two on the course were Taylore Green and RJ Roman. RJ was a speed demon. He actually earned that nickname because he could not be stopped. He easily surpassed Taylor on the course tonight. It looked like he was going to win until he fell.

Yes, the great RJ Roman fell. He was going too fast it seems because he fell on Floating Monkey Bars. He was so dazed and confused afterwards because that rarely happens to him. Him falling also gave the win to Taylor if she was able to get further on the course. She had no problem with that. She could have stopped halfway and instead she went for the buzzer. RJ’s fall wasn’t the only shocking one of the night. The next race was between Nacssa Garemore and Zhanique Lovett. Everyone thought Nacssa would take the win.

It was a given because this was Nacssa. He has a record of falling every ninety obstacles. He was just that good. He also was twenty years younger than Zhanique. Zhanique was having her best season to date and she got even luckier when Nacssa fell tonight. He was as stunned as the audience when that happened. Zhanique didn’t make it to the buzzer only she still won the round. The next race was between Sean Bryan and Enzo DeFerarri Wilson. They have another twenty year age difference. Sean had the seniority. And Enzo had the agility.

Both men had huge followings on social media. Sean was faster than Enzo at first. Enzo still managed to catch up to him and he did so in spite of making a mistake on Floating Monkey Bars. Sean fell on Piston Plunge. It was the last obstacle before the buzzer and again shocking. What is up with these legends falling tonight? Enzo got to the buzzer and he won his round. Isaiah “Flyboy” Thomas also won during the commercial break. Meaning tonight wasn’t all crazy. There were some clear-cut winners that did in fact win their rounds.

Elijah Browning then had his race against Jonathan Godbout. Elijah was known as the Boss for being an entrepreneur at a young age. He was the favorite to win in his race as well and he didn’t disappoint. He was neck and neck with Jonathan for about an obstacle. Then he pulled out ahead. Elijah went on to win his race. He remains fast only he was going to have go against another winner in the next round. Luke Beckstrand beat Caitylyn Bergstrom-Wright during the next commercial break. They were both from great ninja families and so the Beckstrands might dethrone the Bergstroms.

The race amongst winners began with Zhanique and Taylor. They competed against each other. Zhanqiue ended up falling when she was doing so well and Taylor once again took the win. The winners continued with Enzo against Isaiah. Enzo had some news tonight. He was dating his fellow ninja, Emily. He had the nickname Electric Enzo because he was a lot and so finding Emily and her matching his energy was perfection for him. Now, back to the race. Two speedsters against each other meant they were constantly breathing down each other’s necks.

Isaiah won this round. He finished with the fastest time so far. Enzo still hit the buzzer albeit a little bit slower than the Flyboy himself. Then came another speedster race. RJ went up against his former protégé, Nacssa. RJ was the first to coach Nacssa. Its sucks that they have to compete against each other and yet they both needed a win tonight to advance. RJ was pulling out ahead again and then he fell again. Nacssa was able to complete the course. He got the buzzer. And if nothing else RJ can say he was there at the start of Nacssa’s ninja journey.

Elijah won his second race as well as his first. Luke later lost his race against Jonathan in his group. Proving winning once doesn’t mean you’ll win again. Enzo won another race. Isaiah went against Sean from his group. Isaiah took the win. Sean wasn’t keeping up as much he used to. Elijah then had his race against Luke. Luke managed to pull off a win and that put him back in the game. From his group, it was Caitlyn that was eliminated tonight. She lost three races by then and that was it for her season. The other groups began to whittle down.

RJ’s final chance was against Zhanique. Zhanique had already won one round by then. RJ had fallen not just once, but twice. It was so unlike him and it brought up a fear if he’d fall a third time. RJ must have found his strength because he thankfully didn’t fall this time. He quickly finished the race with one of the fastest times of the many races tonight. Later, Group 7 began to race. The course changed up for them. The first to try it out were Ashton Myler and Caleb Bergstrom. The Bergstrom ninja family against one of the Ninja Kidz.

It was an epic race. Ashton pulled out ahead. Then Caleb. Until both were right at each other and Ashton fell and that left Caleb to hit a buzzer tonight. Ashton’s younger brother was next. He ran against Luke Dillion. Again, another Ninja Kidz fell. The brothers will have to compete against each other later on. Hunter Ogden was up against Kaden Lebsack. One was a rookie. The other had made it to Stage 4 several times. Kaden was naturally the favorite to win. Only Hunter surprised everyone by being nearly equal to Kaden.

Kaden did win because he had the experience on most of the obstacles. Still, it was a close call with Hunter. Hunter nearly had him a few times. The next race was between brothers. The Ninja Kidz brothers. Ashton against Paxton. They both lost their first race. Ashton was the older brother and he wasn’t going to lose to his younger brother. He made sure he beat him. They were followed by more teens. Christian Hart against Jackson Erdos. Erdos said he was going to try and win it and he wasn’t wrong because he won that round. And the one that came after.

There were more races during the commercial break. The issue with them being that they went by so fast that only the final placements tonight showed who won. Take Hunter for instance. He competed against someone where Hunter himself fell on the first obstacle. It happened so fast that the name of the person who beat him wasn’t said more than once. Nicholas Coolridge came back from the past and he competed against Kaden. The modern day Tarzan against a speed demon. Tarzan fell though he was moving quicker than Kaden for a while.

With his fall, Kaden was able to catch up as well as surpass. He won that round. Ashton later went up against Luke. Ashton had another unfortunate fall and Luke took the win with a buzzer. The final race of the night was between Christian Hart and James “the Beast” McGrath. Christian was actually a huge fan of James’s. It’s why he didn’t immediately try to beat him. He rather nicely let James catch up to him. More than once and he only took the buzzer because James fell right before he was able to dismount.

It’s nice that the ninja world has become such a tight-knight community.

THE END!
