In tonight’s Chicago Med episode, Jeremy Lockhart came back to the hospital. His stomach cancer was being treated. He was undergoing chemotherapy and was on prescription medications. He arrived at the ED because he started vomiting blood. Dr. Asher saw him and his wife come in.
She recognized them. She was the one that found his cancer. His wife Esme was pregnant. They were experiencing symptoms at the same time. Her condition was because of something she ate. His wife was from his cancer. Asher finding it in time meant there was hope for him. For them!
They consider her a guarding angel. Only he wasn’t a patient anymore. She’s also been going through with her own baggage. She’s been having nightmares about dying in childbirth. Its how her own mother died. Asher was essentially raised by her big sister, but the two aren’t talking.
Her sister tried having a baby and nothing worked until her uterus had to be removed after a stillbirth. Asher didn’t even have to try. She easily got pregnant. She was having no issues. Her sister was resentful that she did everything right and it was still the drug addict that got pregnant.
Asher’s sister was out of the picture. Her baby daddy was no help either. Asher keeps butting heads with Dr. Archer over pregnancy decisions. Now, she has another reason to be mad at him. He was Jeremy’s doctor in the ED. He called down the oncologist.
They went over the lab results and it seemed that Jeremy was dying. He has a few weeks to possibly a month. He won’t live long enough to see his baby be born. It was devastating for his wife. It was hard on Jeremy. Asher felt for them and she wondered if everything possible was done to save his life.
Questions like that can get you into trouble in the ED. Especially when it comes to someone else’s turf. Asher soon saw she couldn’t see save Jeremy and so she tried to prolong his life as much as possible. She posed the idea of a risky surgery.
The others didn’t mention it because they hadnt thought of it. It also came with a major risk once they did. Jeremy could die in surgery or he could more time. It’s a coin toss. Archer sided with Asher because he just spoke to his son. He told him about the new baby. And Sean congratulated him.
Sean was thirty-nine. He wasn’t going to feel pushed out or replaced by a new baby. He was old enough to find the humor in the situation. It was pretty funny. Sean even said its best it happens now before he starts having kids of his own.
Having an uncle or aunt younger than you could be embarrassing. Sean took the news the best out of everyone. This included the whole hospital who couldn’t help gossiping about it for weeks before they moved onto to Dr. Frost. Frost asked out Dr. Naomi Howard and got shut down. She told him she doesn’t date coworkers.
He then tried to move onto the paramedic, Lizzy Novak. They were flirting with each other. It was a hard flirting because she wanted to work towards gaining her phone number. The first time he tried to ask for it. She wrote 911 on his arm in marker.
Nurse Kacy had a few laughs at that one. She claimed he was in a love triangle at the hospital because of Novak and Howard. She also offered it to make it squared and winked at him before she walked away. Frost’s love life was amusing. It helped take Ripley’s mind off of his breakup.
Ripley later got a weird one. Devin Carter came back in. He claimed he got in trouble during hockey. The truth is that he’s drunk and he got into a fight with someone. He was wife beater. Dr. Lenox tried to help his wife. She refused to take that help and she left with her husband.
Now, her husband came in supporting what might be defensive wounds. His wife wasn’t at his side. They tried calling his wife. Devin had her cell phone on him. He claimed his wife was out of town visiting her father. It sent Lenox into a panic.
Lenox asked Ripley to keep watch on Devin while she searched for his wife. The couple lived outside of CPD’s jurisdiction. The local cops would take forever to get there. Lenox went herself and Ripley was supposed to keep Devin at the hospital.
It wasn’t easy because Devin was itching to leave. He was in a hurry. Lenox’s trip was already underway. Back at the hospital, Archer was in surgery with Jeremy when the oncologist started flirting with him. He mentioned he has a son and was long divorced. And she asked him if he was single, this was where he should have said its complicated.
He was about to have a baby with a younger woman. Making his situation complicated. It really wasn’t the time to date and Dr. Kingston playing jazz during surgery was definitely her setting the mood. It was going well until the lights went out.
The whole hospital experienced a blackout. Their backup generators weren’t turning on. Jeremy’s surgery was at risk. Dr. Ripley lost sight of Devin. Dr. Lenox was breaking into the house to find Faye. She later found Faye badly beaten at the bottom of the basement stairs.
Faye couldn’t go up without help. Lenox couldn’t call 911 from the basement. She was heading upstairs to call when she ran into Devin and Devin has a gun.
And Dr. Charles almost accusing another doctor of malpractice was how the episode ended.
THE END!
