Dr. Hannah Asher had to tell one person about her pregnancy. She had to tell it’s father. She was going to keep the baby and so she told Dr. Dean Archer that she was having his baby. Shocked!?!? They were many that were left shocked that Archer was the father of the child. She was in on-again/off-again with Dr. Ripley for the better part of last season. They were going to be those that figured he was the father. He’d probably wonder too if he was the father. Yet, he wasn’t. It was Archer. She broke the news to him. And he wanted to be supportive towards her.

Archer made sure she wanted to keep the baby for the right reasons. Then once she confirmed that she was happy, they agreed to have a child together as two friends. They were not in a relationship. It’s unclear how the baby came to be. Was it one night or was it more than one night? Archer had feelings for her at one point. The same for his adult son. It’s going to be a little awkward when they finally break the news. It’s made even worse by the fact that Asher was waiting forever to do so. She was already passed the three month mark when she still refused to tell people.

Her friends were giving her breakfast sushi to help all the while she was secretly throwing it away. Pregnant women can’t eat raw fish. Its not their fault. They didn’t know. She’s only told two people about the baby. Archer and her sister. People were bound to start guessing once she gains weight. Archer tried to tell Asher that and she just wouldn’t budge. She was still keeping the pregnancy a secret when a couple came in. They were victims of a house fire. The wife barely had moments to live. Dr. Lenox stayed with her till the end. The husband had to watch from his hospital bed.

This could have been tough on Lenox. Only she was burying everything she was feeling. This included the many stages of grief once she found out she inherited prion disease from her mother. He mother died within a year of symptoms. Her father then killed himself. It was just Lenox and her brother now. They both agreed not to get tested for the disease so that they would never know. They could live their lives without that hanging over them. They went back on that agreement when her brother feared he was showing symptoms.

It turned out to be something else. He didn’t have the disease. Lenox did. Lenox couldn’t tell her brother she had it because she knew he’d feel guilty about her getting tested for him. She therefore lied to him. She told him that the test came back negative. It hadn’t and she unfortunately had the test done at Gaffney. Meaning her test results were no secret from Dr. Abrams. He saw her case. He advised her to get psychiatric treatment to deal with the trauma. He wanted her to find a safe outlet and she told him she already had – work.

The two doctors were forced to work together again when a building later collapsed during a rave. There were plenty of victims. It was all hands on deck in the ED. Abrams and Lenox bumped heads on the case of the two sisters. The sisters were at the rave together. One of their arms had impaled the other. The arm bone might have punctured the spleen and so surgery was necessary. It also resulted in a disagreement between the doctors. Lenox was a little too honest with the sisters. Which is a lot coming from Abrams.

Abrams was known as a hammer for a reason. He was blunt to the point of bullying sometimes. It was a surprise when he called Lenox out of all people. He told her that there was a fine line between honesty and deflating hope. She was doing the latter. She told the girl, that was punctured, her odds. The sisters were young. They were girls They were supposed to be young and dumb for a bit. It’s not their fault that someone threw a party in a condemned building. Most people didn’t even know it was condemned. The ones that did thought it would be knocked down not that it was falling apart.

Dr. Ripley’s own patient was feeling so guilty for having survived that he begged to die. The doctor called in a psych consult and he was waiting in the office when one of the nurses accidentally congratulated him on the baby. They overheard Asher talking to Archer. They thought the baby was his. He came to think the baby was his. He later cornered Asher. He told her that he wasn’t mad and that he had a right to know. She then replied that he actually wasn’t the father. She told him that Archer was the dad. She said it happened after they broke up.

It was super uncomfortable for the both of them in that elevator. Ripley apologized for prying. Asher apologized if this news hurt him. It didn’t. Not that much anyways. He had simply been happy for a bit about becoming a dad. It was a dream that he now had to let go until he met the right person. The pregnancy news had gotten out and it wasn’t the only shocking thing to happen. The couple injured in the fire were not a couple. The real wife showed up when she got the call about her husband and son being involved in a fire. It turns out the woman that died was the former babysitter that the real Becky fired.

Becky fired her for how she was looking at her husband. A woman’s instincts are rarely wrong. Becky fired Bonnie and then she goes on a work trip. Her husband has Bonnie over. They were so busy that no one saw a fire accidentally start. Or had time to save the little boy before he too was injured. The sad part was that the husband was going to die anyways from his injuries. He was burned over sixty-five percent of his body. He used his final moments to beg for forgiveness and his wife didn’t give it because his selfish actions risked their son.

Lenox meanwhile went back to the sisters. She told them to tell each other everything they needed to say before surgery. One of the sisters got angry at Lenox for being all doom and gloom, but Lenox told them that she herself was dying. She was dying at a date that could happen at any moment. She couldn’t let them go into surgery without them telling each other how much they love the other. Sierra and Shay said goodbye. They didn’t want to. They hated that they had to. It was merely necessary.

Lenox proved to be right. Things didn’t go well in surgery. If it wasn’t one sister, it was the other. It had looked like one sister had died and Abrams had even called it. It was Lenox that refused to give up on the girl. She kept going long after everyone else gave up. She somehow got the girl back. She kept her alive and she returned her to her sister. Their parents were flying from California. They’ll all be reunited soon. Becky in the meantime had to break her Caleb’s death to their son. The poor boy has no clue what started the fire. He didn’t know it happened because his father accidentally caused it by knocking over some things with his affair partner.

Ripley also went on another date with the single mom from the well and they included her daughter after her babysitter called in sick at the last minute.

Abrams made sure that Lenox took the card for the psychiatrist. Only she was busy. She threw herself into a one night stand and considered that therapy. The real therapist however helped a suicidal kid through his survivor’s guilt. Dr. Charles was always great with cases like that. Its such a shame that Lenox didn’t remember it or turn to him for help.

THE END
