Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) from The Young and the Restless (Y&R) seldom posts lighthearted pictures on social media, but recently, he got fans laughing about his appearance at the Comic-Con in Niagara Falls. It’s finished now, but there will be a holiday edition there towards the end of 2025. Read on to see the amused reactions by fans.
The Photo That Got Fans Laughing
CBS fans laughed because the photo that Eric shared on Instagram looked so ridiculous. Remember, Victor Newman comes over as a tough guy on the show. In fact, some people believe that he should never have stayed on the show so long. But he did, and he emerged as an antagonist.
In the photo, he posed next to what was probably meant to be Bumblebee from The Transformers. The photo showed the actor with his “bodyguard,” and really, it looked so funny that plenty of fans had to laugh about it.
There seemed to be an overkill when Eric Braeden said in the caption, “My bodyguard at the COMIC CON.” It wasn’t really his bodyguard, but people appreciated the humor.
Fans React To The Photo
One Y&R fan told Braedon, “Bumblebee??!? In your alter ego, only Megatron could be Victor Newman’s bodyguard, Eric…”
Plenty of others agreed that the personality from CBS has an ego, but many of them also thought he did not need a bodyguard at all. One fan joked, “…needing a bodyguard? Nah, the Black Moustache can take down anyone. Especially when they mess with his family.”

Still Hanging On
There was talk of retirement by Eric Braeden, but the Daytime Emmy Award winner, who has been on the show for over 40 years and who lost his home in the LA fires, remains on camera. He’s over 80 now, and manages to be as fearsome as ever in his role of Victor, who Y&R fans love to hate.
Eric told TV Insider earlier this year that he loves his role in Genoa City. His character, he reminded fans, is “tough… hard… but he’s also vulnerable, and he wants family more than anything because he didn’t have it growing up in an orphanage.”
If you are not a regular viewer of the show, you might understand why his fans laughed at the idea of him needing Bumblebee as a bodyguard at the Comic-Con in Niagara Falls.
