General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that a major exit could be brewing at the ABC soap. According to the closing credits on the June 20 episode, Josh Kelly (Cody Bell) has been taken off contract.
That’s led fans to wonder if Cody Bell’s GH departure could be in the works.
It’s possible that Cody is on his way out, especially since his storyline recently pivoted in a new direction.
Cody and Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) were on the road to a happy romance, but now Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) has roped him into seducing Ava Jerome (Maura West) and sabotaging her romance with Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst).
This whole thing with Ava came out of nowhere, so that could be an indicator that the writers suddenly had to craft an exit route for Cody.
Could this arc be used to usher Josh Kelly’s character off canvas?
If Cody blows his chance at a future with Molly, he might decide to leave town when all this is over.
Then again, Ric might get updates on what Cody’s done and threaten him right out of Port Charles instead!
It’s also possible Cody will somehow land in prison since he has a knack for landing in trouble with the law.
Cody might even face a grim fate since he’s been playing up Ava’s dangerous history and what she’s truly capable of.
We could certainly picture Kristina’s plan taking a wild turn that somehow wipes Cody off the map.
Regardless, Molly and Cody’s romance isn’t looking very promising anymore.
This situation with Ava is bound to end in disaster one way or another, so it’ll be interesting to see the result for Cody.
Of course, being taken off contract doesn’t necessarily mean Josh Kelly’s departure is locked in.
Kelly could stay on as a recurring player and just pop up when Cody is needed on-screen.
That said, it’s a good idea to consider the possibility that Cody Bell is indeed headed for the exit door.
