In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Amelia was in Boston. Both she and Meredith were applying for a grant. They’ve made some breakthrough with research into Alzheimer’s. They were going to need additional funding to continue their research and it’s not like they can accept money from Grey Sloan on the sly anymore.

Catherine Fox found out about it. She shut it down. She tried to fire them. She even went as far as to fire Teddy for funding their early work. They all eventually got rehired. They helped Catherine treat her cancer. She was in a better mood now. She just wasn’t going to fund any more of their research.

The ladies knew that might not get a grant or further funding. It’s why they published their research online in case they couldn’t follow up on it themselves. They didn’t count on Tom Koracick. The surgeon did what they dreaded the most. He made headwaves using their research. He filed for a grant.

He competing against Meredith and Amelia for it. He was also now further along than the Shepherd women. He was at the testing stage. He was treating mice with a possible cure and was seeing significant results. If Meredith or Amelia wanted to be on the ground when a breakthrough comes in, they have to work with Koracick.

They also couldn’t take credit. Koracick was an arrogant man. He was already getting official funding from Catherine and he still wanted an additional grant because he doesn’t want anyone else getting there before him. He was the worst. He has moments when he seemed like a great guy, but it’s safe say that was a rarity.

He wanted recognition for solving dementia. Meredith hates that he was treating this like a game. Her mother died from the disease. She also has tested other people with the disease. She’s seen how it destroys families. She didn’t think it was a joke or her way to get into the history books.

Meredith had more respect for the disease than Koracick did. She hates that he was further along. She was complaining about it to Nick and Amelia doing the wiser thing. She was actually checking out the competition. She visited Koracick’s lab. She saw that he was making a great start.

She also knew that her own work with Meredith should take precedence because they truly want to help people. They were still fighting for a grant when Koracick tried to sink their chances. Again, he was the worst. He was sinking them while things got awkward back in Seattle.

Jules hooked up with someone at the bar one night. She didn’t know that the woman was Monica’s ex-wife or that she was in Seattle with a patient that needed surgery. Pediatric surgery. Which meant Monica was going to be the patient’s doctor. It also gets worse because Jules was on Monica’s service tonight. It was super awkward all around. Jules made a mistake in surgery and she froze. Monica had to talk her back in. Monica later advised Jules that her personal life couldn’t get in the way of a patient’s treatment. And Jules took that advice.

Jules wanted Winston to be her mentor. She thought he was the best. She wanted to be a cardiac surgeon like he was. She didn’t know it, but Winston kinda has a thing with Monica now.

There were a lot of complications and entanglements at the hospital. Simone noticed something off about Lucas’s patient. She asked him if she could run tests. He agreed and she found something. She found out the patient had a tumor. Bailey let her do the surgery solo to remove it because she was the one to find it. And Lucas didn’t want to be a part of it.

Something was off with Lucas. He wasn’t his usual self. He skipped a chance at surgery and he stayed at work late claiming he had to do paper work. Then again he was acting odd earlier that

day. He’s been off since he saw a group of potential new residents. He was about to become a second year intern and something in him wasn’t happy about it. No one noticed his odd behavior. Simone thought everything was fine. The others were too busy dealing with their own love lives. Blue was back with Molly only Molly’s ex-fiancé wanted to fight for her.

Molly tried to tell Dave that she made her choice. Only he showed up in Seattle ready for a fight. Blue just had to let Molly deal with it because he knew what it was like to lose her. He knew why Dave was fighting for her now. Then there was Link. Link wanted a big wedding. He’s never been married before.

He was engaged to Jo and this was going to be her third marriage. She’s had the big wedding. She’s also had a courthouse wedding. She wasn’t sure if she should do a big wedding again and Link got her to see that this time was going to be different. They were marrying each other.

Also, not all marriages need to be traditional. Owen and Teddy went to marriage counselling. They talked and they realized the best step forward for their marriage was to have an open marriage.

They came up with some ground rules. They weren’t to mention names or develop feelings for the other partners. They also agreed to stay in open communication with each other. If one person wanted to stop, they’d stop. They still love each other. They just realized they couldn’t be everything the other one needed.

This was all happening at the same time as everything else and so no one noticed when one of the interns began acting oddly. Lucas’s aunt was even there to see the shift. Amelia was with Meredith and they lost out on the grant. It was rewarded to Koracick. And so Meredith decided to fund her own research herself with her savings.

It was the worst time for it. She and Nick just bought a new house. She now has to fund research mostly by herself and that was going to be draining, but it will be worth it if they find a cure.

And a baby was born to a lovely couple. Jo was the doctor for the mother. Link was the doctor for the father. The parents tried speed up delivery by sleeping together and all it did was injure the father’s back when the doctors surprised for a checkup. Another lovely story amongst all the chaos.

THE END!
