In tonight’s NCIS episode, NCIS Special Agent McGee was an author in his spare time. He wrote a bunch of books under a pen name. They did well and his family were comfortable. However, someone attended his latest book signing. They gave him a flier with his face on it. The eyes were scratched out and that person wrote “I know what you did” along with an IP Address on the back of it.
The address led to the page for McGee’s first book. His friends thought someone was probably angry he was falling back on his old tropes of using his loved ones in his books. He did that with the first one where he turned Gibbs into Agent Tibbs. And now there was an Agent Sorres and Agent Nightshade in his
His friends were mocking him for his unoriginality when they caught a case. There was a naval captain found in a dumpster. He apparently has been there for over three weeks.
His name was Captain Seth Meyers. No relation to the SNL alum. His ears were removed. McGee also ran into his biggest fan at the crime scene. She said she listens to the police banner for her podcasts. She also admitted that she thought he’d attend the scene when she heard it was a naval officer and so she came down in case she got to see him in action.
No, she wasn’t following him. She swears. McGee was choosing to believe her because he has his hands full. He had an interview with a journalist and he was also investigating Seth’s murder.
Seth was working on classified project with the Navy. His file was essentially stripped down to the extent that NCIS didn’t even know what he was working on. They had to speak to his boss. Someone who didn’t strip down his file or ordered to have it done. He just mentioned they were working on a much cheaper drone that could be made out of old planes. It was a way to repurpose them while also saving money.
Any rival government would want to get their hands on the project. Seth was leading it until he took time off. He claimed there was a family emergency and that proved to be untrue. Seth was also clearly tortured before he was killed. It was assumed he was tortured to gain access to that project only he had already stolen it.
He stole it right before he took time off. He had classified documents transferred to a standalone drive. There’s no telling where that could be now. It wasn’t at his home because it was ransacked. It couldn’t be with a rival government because why torture Seth?
f Seth was working to undermine the United States, there would be no need to kill or torture him. He might actually end up with more friends than he had in real life. Seth was a solid guy to those who knew him. He did the job.
He seemed friendly. His boss didn’t know him all that way because he smelled like soup and kept to himself. Only there was one person who knew him well. His best friend, Matthew Sheldon. He was missing now as well. McGee was the first to find out about it because Matthew’s mother abducted him and demanded he help find her son.
Matthew’s mother tried to do things the right way. She called the cops. She tried calling NCIS. None of them took her concerns seriously when she said her son was missing. He was an adult man. He was a part of the Navy. They thought he had gone out with friends and would tell her eventually. They didn’t know that Matthew was a huge fan of McGee’s books or that he preordered the latest one. He wouldn’t go missing if he was such a huge fan that he had been looking forward to the shipment.
His mom told McGee all of this after she drugged then abducted him. She said Matthew believed in him. Matthew even joined the Navy because of McGee’s books. McGee has to be smart enough to help her find her son. It was Rule #39: There are no coincidences. McGee connected Matthew to Seth long before he spoke with Matthew’s mother.
The mother had the drive. She gave it to McGee to find out what happened to her son. He cracked it. He soon learned that there was a problem with the retrofitting. It doesn’t work.
It killed Matthew who was a naval pilot. Seth was going to blow the whistle on the crime when his boss abducted him to get the files back. The boss also found the mom and McGee. McGee was able to subdue him by time his team showed up. They found him thanks to his biggest fan who did start following him by the way for her podcast. Matthew’s mother knew all along that her son was dead, but her mind blocked it because she started to rely on Seth and then Seth disappeared from her life. That’s the real reason no one helped her find her son. They all knew he died.
Matthew died with his plane that he called “Ruby”. He had a chance to eject and didn’t take it because his plane would have crashed into a school without him steering it properly. He died a hero. The same for Seth. Both men will get justice for what happened to him. Matthew’s mother will also get the help she needs.
McGee’s latest book was panned by a critic and he didn’t care because if it could inspire people like Matthew to serve his country then it wasn’t all bad. He just had to find the right muse.
And Jimmy learned that Parker’s mother’s death wasn’t consistent with a car accident like the report claimed.
