In tonight’s NCIS: Sydney episode, NCIS went off looking for that missing stinger. The stinger was stolen from the Americans. It was taken from their stockpile and it had been taken by one of their own.
It had been an American soldier stealing from a pile of weapons he was told to destroy. He received help from others. This included an Australian buddy.
Only NCIS found their Aussie dead. He met up with arms dealer. He got doubled-crossed. The arms dealer made off with the stinger and the money. He or she were left free to commit an act of terror.
It’s the only explanation why they didn’t want the weapon tracked back to them. They were planning something. It probably had to do with the February 19th commemoration.
There were a lot of VIPs flying into Australia for that event and a stinger was perfect means of taking down a plane. After they found Jensen dead, JD followed up a lead. He looked into Etienne. He didn’t trust him or that Mackey did. Mackey’s bosses were also stonewalling them. She reported the missing stinger to SECNAV.
She was told to find it before anyone could be harmed. They also tied her hands. She wasn’t just put in charge for finding the stinger. She also had to act as Rear Admiral Olsen’s protection detail when he landed. Which could be at any time. She couldn’t do the two things at once. She needed all her resources to finding that stinger. JD was sitting in on the meeting with her boss. Hs stormed off when the guy refused to take the pending threat seriously. This was when he had source look into Etienne. And he found out that Etienne was clean.
On paper if nothing else. JD still didn’t trust him. He wanted to go back to Etienne for more information. They found him on a freighter boat named Petre and they heard his screams.
They ran to go help him, but Etienne’s attacker wasn’t there when they found Etienne. He was alive. He was relatively unharmed. His attacker somehow knew to maximize a great deal of pain with a mere few cuts.
Etienne almost died from the pain. He blamed Mackey for what happened to him. He helped her and all that he asked in return was for his own name to be kept out of it.
JD ruined that when he went digging into Etienne. He didn’t feel guilty about what he did because there was a part of him that still doubted Etienne. It wasn’t Mango Madness anymore. Something was driving him not trust Etienne. It might have to do with the Petre.
The Petre was in Timor-Leste the same time as Colonel Rankin. It’s where his secret pacemaker was put in. The one with a listening device. These people forced Rankin into working with him and he was their best source on the guy. And so JD begged Rankin’s wife to take him out of the coma.
It could have killed him. It didn’t because he was with the best doctors in the world. They kept him alive. Rankin still had some pride to him and he couldn’t wait to help NCIS the first second he started talking. He told them that they never met in person. Rankin knew his accent was South African.
He also knew that the guy stole weapons to give them cheaply to other countries. Rankin said he didn’t care about profit. He was in it for the chaos. Rankin couldn’t talk any more after that. He needed to heal.
Still, what JD said to Mackey about the Petre helped her realized something. She figured that Etienne must have crossed paths with this man in Timor-Leste. JD was right in that it was too much of a coincidence.
Mackey went back to Etienne. She asked about his stop there. He said the one thing that allowed many people to die from disasters were not the disasters themselves or the people responsible. It was all the red tape just to get them help in the aftermath. Etienne claimed he went to his own source while he was on the island. He said his associate put him in contact with Hansie Dekker.
NCIS even got a photo of Dekker. Etienne confirmed that was the guy he met up for supplies. NCIS later found the stinger and they found a guy guarding the place. He was from Timor-Leste.
He was working with other people from his country that wanted to target Australia. This included Maria. They didn’t know it, but they were patsies. They wanted to move against Australia for stealing their mineral wealth and depriving them of their freedom. They earned freedom from Indonesia only for their allies to then betray them.
They weren’t in it because of the American Navy or the Rear Admiral. They kidnapped the Australian Foreign Minister from that commemoration. Mackey was so busy on protection detail that she couldn’t stop them from taking the Foreign Minister or Evie. Evie went to go protect the minster.
The gunmen took her with them because they didn’t want to kill anyone. They just wanted someone high up in the government to take accountability for what happened to their country. And the next thing they knew, Dekker killed them off to get to the Foreign Minister.
Dekker was getting rich by causing all the chaos. He made 1.7 billion thanks to what his patsies did at the commemoration. He was going to use the Foreign Minister to cause more chaos when NCIS moved in. They saved the Foreign Minister. They killed Dekker with some help from a few crocodiles. There was just one issue.
Dekker wasn’t in it alone. He was working with Etienne. Dekker caused the chaos. Etienne rebuilds after the chaos was caused. It was a great way of hiding what they were really after – the money. JD put it all together. He warned Mackey while she was out to dinner with Etienne.
Mackey took down Etienne. She stopped his explosive from going off. She saved the day and JD didn’t rub her face in what happened. And whatever Bluebird was running from, found her after she was caught in the background photo of the man that found the million dollar fish.
THE END!
