In tonight’s Sister Wives Tell-All episode, upon the request of the family, Garison’s passing will not be discussed during the Tell-Alls. The host tonight is Sukanya “Suki” Krishnan. Suki is nice. She gets friendly with the cast. She also asked the hard questions. Which many felt Kody needed to be asked. Kody has said some horrible things.
He puts down his exes. He blamed them for their failed marriages. He said he never loved them. It wasn’t true because everyone was there. Meri’s marriage struggled the most twice. The first time was when they became a plural family and he took Janelle as the second wife. And the second but ultimately time that led to the failure of their marriage was when Robyn joined the family.
Things were good for many of them prior to Robyn’s arrival. Sure, Christine was probably unhappy even back then. She often pushed her feelings aside a lot of the time to ensure the peace in the house.
Kody used to respect that and make time for her. Or at least she thought he did. He stopped doing the b re minimum when Robyn entered the picture. Suki started out tonight by asking everyone about what movie would be describe their life. Kody believes the line from “The Dark Knight” best fits him. He said you’d either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain.
It was that comment that Suki latched on because she wanted to know if he saw himself as a villain. Kody doesn’t think he was/is. He said he didn’t know what love was until he met Robyn. He claimed that there was a divine aspect to his relationship with Robyn that none of the others tried to match. Match?
He sacrificed the whole to make Robyn his priority. He convinced himself that he wasn’t in fact a polygamist after all because he wanted to spend more time with Robyn. He said he didn’t love anyone before Robyn. The other wives that were raised in plural families knew what really happened.
Kody played favorites. He spent nearly twenty years with three wives. It wasn’t always easy. There were a lot of sacrifices on eveyone’s side and they were fine as long as Kody loved them all.
Things shifted when Robyn entered the picture. She simply didn’t become the favorite. Her feelings were prioritized. Her children became prioritized. Kody uprooted their family allegedly for Robyn. He stopped paying attention to his other children. He also stopped acknowledging all the other wives and all they did to be a family.
Their husband was gone for the most part. Two of the wives were working outside of the home. They were constantly moving because Kody couldn’t seem to stay in one place. When he did spend quality time with the wives or their children, it was because the wives handled it. They rearranged their lives around Kody.
Kody refuses to acknowledges that. He said that was bull. He said Christine was so busy being unhappy that she made him unhappy. He tried to claim he tried to raise his other relationships to be like Robyn’s. And neither Christine nor Meri or Janelle ever experienced that.
Kody has this open communication with Robyn. They talk about their feelings. Even their frustrations. He never did that with the others. He never told them he was unhappy.
He never sought out counseling. He let them believe that the problem was always them. This whole raising them to Robyn’s level was also an insult because they didn’t want to be Robyn. They wanted to be themselves and loved for themselves. If Kody never did, he should never have married the others. Or have children with them because now those children are hurt by what he said.
Kody also hated that his divorce to Meri was approved on the basis of abandonment. He doesn’t believe he abandoned Meri. He claimed that she changed.
The others noticed that he changed. He stopped visiting Meri when they were living in Las Vegas. She was so lonely that she was willing to be catfished. Kody also said that he was afraid to leave Meri because of what she might have done. Meri thought that was insulting. Kody said that Meri refuses to remember this dark time in their marriage. It got so bad that she kicked him out of the house.
Kody added that he wanted to stay in his marriage to Meri prior to this. Prior to the catfishing as well. He said he was trying to save their marriage and she was too busy falling in love with someone else. Meri denies that part. She also doesn’t think they slept together on the day of the legal divorce.
Meri doesn’t remember it. She had an agreement with Kody to never discuss their bedroom. Kody was bringing it up now as a way to prove Meri was wrong. He said he won’t rehash old things because he was friends now with Meri. She was his “favorite ex-wife”.
Meri doesn’t like that term. Neither did the other wives. Janelle doesn’t think Kody was smart enough to manipulate anyone and Christine said it wasn’t Kody planting the seeds of that legal divorce. It was Robyn. Their legal divorce was something Robyn brought up several times over the years.
It happened before Meri had her spiritual awakening to the idea. Meri had seen the matter happen herself. She thinks she came to it without Robyn and she was never quite sure if she was lead into believing it was her idea by Kody or if it really was.
Now, Meri admits she went through a pretty dark time. She asked for space. Kody used that to abandoned the marriage. The other wives felt they had been abandoned too.
Christine left the church when she left Kody. She was legally married to someone else. David was her concern now. Though she did add that Kody’s three out of four wives leaving him said more about him than them. Meri was his favorite ex because he likes that he can kick her around or that he used to. The thing with the shirts was still pretty petty.
Not that he was willing to accept blame in any of what happened with any of them. He even claimed that he tried to maintain the relationship with Janelle. Janelle said that was a lie. She couldn’t bring up his favoritism or ask to be respected. She also couldn’t talk about Robyn at all. Kody was too busy running interference for Robyn that he let the others believe he didn’t want to hear from them.
THE END!
