In tonight’s The Amazing Race episode, the teams all flew to the southernmost country of Europe tonight. They got to travel to Athens, Greece. It was the home of the first Olympics and birthplace of democracy.
Some of them have even been there before. They went during the Summer. The fall to near the winter will ensure a much different type of the weather. All of the teams ended up on the same flight. They talked and they laughed. It didn’t matter when they got to their first destination in Greece. They made it to the Pynx Hill where they were told they had a live double U-turn.
They all had to vote. Joseph couldn’t do it. He let his partner picked because he knew these people. He was friends with most of them. Only loyalty matters little in this game.
Jag and Jas for instance voted for Taylor and Kyland in spite of them helping them out in the past. Their decision actually caused Taylor to tear up. She was so upset by their reason as well. They voted for her because they thought she was ragging on the gentleman’s agreement. She wasn’t. She was expressing doubt that she could keep up with men dominating.
It was because Taylor didn’t want to vote for friends that she became a hypocrite. She voted for Izzy and Paige over them. The only female team and after she just expressed doubt as a woman in this game. Three teams ended up doing the U-turn. The usual team like Tucker and Eric. The second best team like Jag and Jas.
Then the surprise third team of Taylor and Kyland. Those three teams along with Joseph and Adam found themselves having fun with the last laterna maker in all of Greece. His name is Adonis. Adonis created their automatic pianos.
Once they got it, they had to take it to the square nearby and play for tips. They needed enough to move on to the next round. Tucker and Eric were the first to theirs.
Then they made the mistake of not carrying everything. They’re supposed to carry everything from the basket to the stand as well as the laterna. The only one to not make that mistake was Jag and Jas.
The rest all found themselves turning back to get everything. Joseph and Adam tried to warn Taylor and Kyland. They just too far away to hear.
Asking for ten euros though was tough. It takes skill to play the laterna. Tucker and Eric sorta cheated. They promised to throw a handstand for ten euros and that’s exactly what happened. The brothers have been doing that since they were kids so they easily were value for money. Then came the olive test.
They went to an olive stand where they saw the many different olives of Greece. The olive tree was important to Greece because they hold one of the oldest olive trees that was believed to be gifted by Athena herself.
With the olives, it was all about remembering appearance as well as taste. There were so many varieties that tasting the olives came in handy. Its how Jag and Jas got ahead. They were the first to get ten euros for their laterna playing. They were the first to identify the proper olives. They were on while people were still stuck on olives.
What came after the olives were the boulders. They had to push boulders up a hill. It was a big exercise. Taylor and Kyland might have let what happened earlier deter them.
They took forever with the olives. They kept getting hung up on the taste. They also kept repeating the same mistake without realizing it so they were caught dead last.
They were on their fourth try while everyone else had moved on. They finally got it on their sixth. After the boulder came a test of linguistics. They were learning from an ancient Greek linguist. They needed to know more than a fraternity or sorority. They also couldn’t just rely on memory alone. Some of the symbols looked similar.
Jag and Jas were the first team in Amazing Race history to ever check in first after being u-turned. They were heading to Cambodia next where a food tasting tour awaits them. People were getting so stuck at the ancient Greek letters that it gave Taylor and Kyland time to catch up. They were able to surpass Tucker and Eric because Tucker was really bad at Greek letters. Tucker and Eric were in last place. They had to catch up because it doesn’t matter what time they finish the challenges. It matters what time they make it to Phil.
Taylor and Kyland got to Phil before Tucker and Eric. The brothers found themselves eliminated tonight because Tucker kept getting stuck on Greek letters. Maybe he should’ve let his brother have a try because now tonight was going to haunt him.
THE END!
