In tonight’s The Voice episode, Team Reba was up first. The incredible Joe Walsh joined once more tonight. Their first battle of the night was Austin vs. Peyton. Austin was a Country musician. He chose the song “Eight Second Ride” because it reminded him of bull riding and both were high on adrenaline. He loves to work a crowd. He thought this song would be perfect to accomplish all that he wanted to do with it. Peyton was more R&B and Pop. He chose “I Don’t Want To Be” because he loved the progress he’s made on Team Reba. He also wanted to be true to himself.

Peyton found a sweet spot with his falsetto that Reba asked him to keep. It was perfect and the coaches wanted to hear more of it. Peyton’s later performance really set the tone. He displayed excellence. They wanted more of it from everyone tonight. Austin then had his turn on the stage. Austin needed a little bit more direction during rehearsals and that could be nerves. His words were getting jumbled a bit so Reba and Joe just reminded him that he was a great singer because he was. Only don’t go sleeping on Austin.

Austin brought the energy. He brought the sheer joy of music with him. He took Reba’s direction and sounded amazing. They both sounded great. The coaches were evenly divided on who won the round. Reba ultimately named Peyton for his ability to always surprise her. Next up was Team Niall. It was Dustin vs Kirbi for him. Kirbi was pretty amazing because she put her own spin on “Hard Fought Hallelujah”. She chose it because the song touched her heart and she was a huge fan of Jelly Roll.

Dustin didn’t get to meet Joe Walsh because he was sick. He had to rehearse over a video recording. He chose “She Talks To Angels” because it spoke to him. Though he too thought it was funny that a folk singer kept singing rock music. The last time was on Niall for choosing the song. This time it had been him that chose the rock route. It sucks that Dustin’s time with his coach was cut short because of illness. He still sounded great only he’d always wondered if he could’ve done better if he had extra time.

It was also curious that Niall pitted his two four chair turns against each other. Why couldn’t rig things to keep both. Kirbi went second and she was such a powerhouse that she blew everyone away. Niall even said afterwards “what did I do”. He put two of his best up against each other when there was no chance of saving one. He messed up and he quickly realized it. Niall picked Kirbi because he had to after such a performance. He was still hurt when he lost Dustin because Dustin has a voice that could do anything and his coach knew it.

Next up was Team Snoop. Snoop’s first battle of the night was between Lauren and Yoshihanaa. Zac Brown with him again. Zac helped coach Lauren through her song choice. She chose “Try” by Pink.

“Try” by Pink spoke to her. She was a touring artist so she was often on the road and questioning if she should give up or not. This song reminds her to keep going. Yoshi went a different way. She chose “You’re All I Need To Get By” in honor of her family. She leaned on them and her kids when things got tough. And she was honest with the coaches when she said she never knows what’s going to come up out of the bag.

What came out was a heartfelt performance that sounded like her own song. He rendition has runs and sweet moments filled of emotion. Both of them were deserving of a wow. They were both so great that Snoop was stuck. He really couldn’t just pick one. He chose Lauren, but then he used Mic Drop on Yoshi. Yoshi’s undeniable talent needed to be spread across the world. And now many will hear her if she chosen to perform at the Rose parade.

And voting for who to send to the Rose Parade was officially opened tonight.

THE END!
