In tonight’s The Voice episode, it was the first of the Playoffs! Aaron Nichols representing Team Reba was up first. He performed “Beer Never Broke My Heart”. It was a lively and upbeat performance. Which was the usual for him. Aaron was one with the band tonight. He fit in as a frontman. Snoop even said he performed like a superstar because of how he managed said band and how good he looked onstage. It appeared as if he’s been performing for years because he looked so good. Aaron has been a strong contender all throughout the season. Reba now has to decide if he could bring this home for her this year.

Next up was Jazz Mackenzie. She was from Team Michael and together they decided to turn a classic into a church experience. Jazz performed “Don’t Stop Believin” tonight. When said she took people to church, she really did. Michael tried to give Niall a heads up and Niall still wasn’t prepared for it. He was up on his feet dancing with the music because Jazz really rearranged the song into sounding like herself. She pulled it off beautifully. She also showed Michael was building a strong team to contend with Reba’s.

Reba’s Ryan Mitchell was up next. Ryan was a Carson Callback. He went from a no chair turn to making it to the playoffs. He was a rocker and he brought back an old 90s style of rock. Ryan performed “Undressed” tonight. His song was more contemporary tonight yet it still felt like him. The vocalists have been building up their stage identities and by this time of the night they’ve been on point. Ryan’s performance had Michael congratulating Reba for a strong choice. Niall was too busy rocking out. And Snoop was enjoying a time of his life he never thought he’d get to relive.

Michael’s Trinity was soon up. Trinity wanted to show another side of herself tonight. She performed “Barracuda”. She loves Rock as much as the next girl and she wanted to show she could sing anything. She can. She really can. Its just that she was so relaxed onstage. It was a nitpick only it needed to be said. Barracuda should be performed with energy. With temper. With flair. She sounded amazing. It was her stage presence that was lacking and that was unfair to her again amazing voice. She just didn’t bring it on this night of all nights.

Reba was back up again with Aubrey Nicole. Aubrey chose “Black Velvet”. She went Rock tonight as well. She brought sass and energy. She stepped out of her comfort zone. It still sounded like her. She sounded great like she always does. It’s the fact that she included everything. She didn’t look like she wanted to remain pretty. She wanted to sell the song and she did. The judges were impressed. Reba was proud of her. Her team were really making it hard on her because its not like she can keep all of them.

Michael’s Rob Cole was next. Rob and his coach think so much alike that they both thought of the same song on the same night. They thought of “I Hope You Dance”. Rob’s came to him in his dream. He woke up to a phone call from Michael who also thought of the song. It was perfect for Rob. It allowed him to show off his Country tones while also giving a compelling performance. The performance was also stripped down. It was simply him and his guitar and so all eyes remained on him. And the whole thing made Reba teary-eyed.

Reba’s Peyton Kyle then got his turn. He does a little Soul. A little Rock. He was a versatile vocalist. He also had a great wardrobe. Its only Jazz and Trinity that have him beat in that department. Partly because those women were just stunning. Now, back to Peyton. Peyton gained confidence over these past few weeks. His tone has gotten richer. He displayed that tonight when he performed “Hold Back The River” that was both Soulful and a little Rock. He held his own among the greats. And he was followed by the most adorable teenager.

Max Chambers finished out the night with “A Change Is Gonna Come”. He has a stellar kind of voice. No one else even comes close to his sound tonight. He chose the classics and he moved everyone. He had Snoop in tears with his performance tonight. Snoop just loves him. Max brought it home, but Michael could only choose one member of his team to take directly into the next round. He ultimately chose Jazz because she was just too flawless to pass up. Then came Reba’s turn. Reba had to pick one member of her team too.

Reba chose Aubrey because she felt Aubrey was a storyteller and those were hard to find.

THE END!
