The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) recently talked about his former General Hospital role and confessed why he’s jealous that he can’t play Dr. Patrick Drake anymore.
Thompson is coming up on his 10-year anniversary at Y&R in January, but many GH fans still remember him from his days of playing Patrick in Port Charles.
Of course, Patrick always had a close bond with his daughter, Emma Scorpio-Drake (now played by Braedyn Bruner), who’s all grown up now and studying at college.
In a new interview with Swooon, Thompson opened up about wishing he could explore the relationship between Patrick and an adult Emma. There would be all sorts of possibilities, so Thompson is “a little bit jealous” that he can’t be there for Emma-related storylines.
However, Jason Thompson is on contract at Y&R and has no intention of leaving.
That’s something Thompson wanted to make clear to any fans who might take his words the wrong way.
“Don’t get me wrong — I’m incredibly, incredibly happy where I am, and I have no plans of going anywhere,” Thompson said. “And if it’s up to me, I’ll be doing this for the next 30, 40 years on Y&R, but at the same time, I still love that character, and I still would love to embody it a little bit.”
Thompson recalled when Emma was a young girl and can’t help but wonder what Patrick’s bond with her would be like today on General Hospital.
Naturally, there’s a chance that GH might recast the role of Patrick at some point, but he remains off-screen with Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough and their son, Noah, for the time being.
As for what’s ahead in Genoa City, Billy will continue to play a big part in the Abbotts’ fight against Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and the AI program threat. Some tricky news could be coming up for the Abbott clan as they strike back.
Billy will also work to convince Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) that their future is secure, so stay tuned for updates on his efforts to keep her happy.
