The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers suggest Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) threatened a defamation lawsuit against Newman Enterprises in light of their recently published article on his late father, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers).
From the sounds of it, the entire article was written based on the letter Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) discovered, which incriminated Colin and implied that he duped Madame Deleone under the alias Lord Jeremy Edgerton.
The money and estate Colin inherited from Deleone were the very funds used to build Cane’s Arabesque company, so if the article is true, Cane’s fortune has been built on a web of lies.
Of course, the fact that both Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) did not follow up with sources, but just followed Victor’s orders has been brought up multiple times.
During the Friday, October 10 episode, shortly after Newman Media published the article, Cane stormed into the Newman Media offices and dropped the lawsuit bombshell.
There’s been no confirmation as to whether Victor’s claims about Colin are true. It’s also uncertain if Cane knew what Colin was up to (assuming Colin’s con is legit).
One thing Cane, and even Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), have been adamant about is how much Colin changed, right before he passed away.
With that said, Colin’s last con doesn’t seem overly far-fetched, and the entire story does seem like something he would do.
Still, even if it is true, with no known sources to back up Newman Media, could Cane launch a lawsuit that buries Newman Media and Newman Enterprises?
Victor is rich, but Cane seems a little bit richer, so he could drag Victor and his company through the court system until his conglomerate crumbles.
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that the Newmans have been fretting over their legacy, thanks to the AI software Cane has, but if Victor had stayed in his lane, they may not have had the bigger worry that Cane will bring forth in the form of a lawsuit that could ruin their fortune.
