In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, unfortunately, the team was battling an active volcano hidden beneath LA on tonight’s episode. Its already erupted. It was sprouting debris as well as lava onto everyone.
The team has handled a lot yet they were always left scrambling after a brush with Mother Nature. The fault lines under LA pushed up some of the earth’s magma. It’s the story that geologists and the media was running with. There were plenty of people said it was straight out of the movies. Maddie’s people were fielding a lot of calls asking if it was a hoax.
Director Worrell died when a piece of debris fell on him. He was the one in charge of the city’s emergency services. Without him, no one knew who was in charge. They couldn’t call for backup.
Maddie’s office was overwhelmed with people panicking. They were wondering if they needed to evacuate the city. There was one woman who was stuck in her car in a river of lava. She sadly wasn’t the only one stuck in her car. Chimney had no choice than to tell people to climb on the roof of theirs as they all play the game “Floor Is Lava”.
They were sending in people to slowly rescue everyone. Naturally, there had to be one guy who thought the firefighters were idiots. He ignored their warnings on waiting to be assisted.
He tried to climb onto of cars by himself. He accidentally felt and he went up in flames. The man died because he ignored people trying to help him. He figured he could save himself. It didn’t work out that way and his death served to scare everyone who witnessed it into actually listening. There was a silver lining in every setback on tonight’s episode.
Even Athena found her own. Athena traveled into a hole in the ground to investigate a store heist. She was down there when the volcano erupted and she was trapped down there with two others.
They worked for the city. She recognized one of them as Matthew Sparks. He was the probation officer that shot a woman on day two. Athena knew he was going to be a problem. Its why she asked for him to transferred to someone else after a single day and then he shot someone and got away with it because he thought he went for taser.
Athena found herself trapped with that guy. The other one has worked for the city for a long time. He knew all about the underground tunnels that were following to get help.
They had to go aboveground as fast as possible because the tunnels were collapsing. It seems now was the time to finally talk it out. They never did that after the shooting. Plus, their guide out of there suffered a headwound. He was lost and confused. They went in circles for a bit before the other two realized that the man’s head injury could be more severe than they initially believed.
It happened right around the time he completely forgot who Athena was. The poor guy was Harvey. Harvey kept forgetting conversations within the span of minutes.
Athena and Matthew had no idea what to do with him. No one knew they were missing. Maddie suddenly found herself in charge of emergency response because literally everyone else refused responsibility. Maddie was spending millions trying to answer the call for help. She also found herself having to decide between which direction she wants to save. If she focused north of south because both weren’t on the table.
Not with the geologists in the room claiming it. Maddie was listening to her advisors as Chimney sent Harry and Hen to someone in distress at an apartment building.
The woman was hit by a lava rock. She was dying and she knew it. She was a doctor. She refused medical treatment so that the firefighters could assist others who could be saved. Hen left. Harry stayed. Harry wanted to stay with that brave woman. He didn’t think she should die alone. His sister on the other hand made a mistake when she had to step up.
She applied someone’s IV wrong. She got blood everywhere and that included on the patient’s new bride. The head nurse then benched Mae for not getting it together.
Buck meanwhile pulled off a daring rescue of a pregnant woman by basically tarzaning her over the lava into safety. The first responders all had to step up in ways they didn’t know they could.
Sometimes it works out like it did with Buck. There were also other times when people fell apart. Its not because they weren’t good at their jobs. It’s because bravery was too hard to maintain.
The young doctor taught Harry that lesson. Maddie learned hers when she decided which neighborhood gets to burn. Mae figured it out when she returned to the floor.
Athena found herself trapped near lava with two men she didn’t know and had no clue how to rescue them all, but it was Athena. She was going to keep fighting.
THE END!
