In tonight’s American Ninja Warrior recap, American Ninja Warrior returned for its eighteenth season tonight. Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, and Zuri Hall all came back. The same goes for familiar obstacles and the course was looking difficult tonight. There was the Shrinking Steps, the new one called Roller Bags, Diamond Dash, Kite Surfer, Kaleidoscope, and Warped Wall. It seems like a lot but if finished under a minute and ten seconds there was a chance at the Mega Warped Wall. The Mega was guaranteed cash in the pocket. Everyone wanted to go after that one. This included the Cowboy Ninja. Lance Pekus was back for his fifteenth season.

Lance was an ON. Original Ninja! He came forward about the difficulties his family has had to face. His wife was unfortunately diagnosed with MS. She was still active and that was in a large part thanks to her family being there to support her. They even showed Lance helping her get on a horse so that she could still go riding with their daughter. Its been a tough few years since the diagnosis and that didn’t change Lance’s skill. Lance was sailing through the course at first. It was until he got to Kite Surfer that he stumbled.

Lance opened his arms wide. It might’ve been too wide because he lost grip control and fell. He has to wait to see if he qualified for the next round. Only that had been the fourth obstacle. There’s a chance that plenty will make it past that obstacle and he wasn’t ready for a three-way race. He was followed by a kid. Her name was Lumi Rivera. She was still a teenager and in high school. This was her rookie season. She lived on a farm where she was in charge of over a hundred animals. It made her quick. It just didn’t appear for Roller Bags and so she was out after tonight.

Next up was ANW legend Sandy Zimmerman. Its actually been ten years since she first premiered on the show. In honor of that, she brought along the whole family. Her once small kids were no longer small. They were already competing in the Family Championship. They helped Sandy train and she was stronger than ever. She made it past Roller Bags. She got to Kaleidoscope when she fell. She made it pretty far on the course so odds are she’ll be moving to the next round. It just sucks to have gotten that close and not celebrate with a buzzer.

The obstacles were stressful to say the least. There were plenty of runners during the commercial break. No buzzers for them either. Sandy was followed by Brett Zimmerman, her son. Brett went out on Roller Bags. It was a disappointment for the family. Ellie Swenson then followed and she was soon out herself on too. Still, no buzzer. Brandon Dodson was back. He was a football Coach and he helped his students to reverse their plays in the moment. He was hoping to borrow that strategy tonight.

The coach had his family as well as his team back home cheering him on. He made it past the first few obstacles without issue. It wasn’t until he got to Kite Surfer that he struggled. He took too long on it. He eventually lost grip strength and fell into the water. Next up was Rai Flores. This teenager flew all the way from Guam to represent his island. There was a Ninja gym there and Rai trained under his coach who also flew out to support him tonight. And Rai made it all look easy as he sped through the course.

Rai actually took up time he didn’t need. He could’ve easily been the first to take on the Mega only he still hit a buzzer. He finished the course first. He showed that taking their time as mapped everything out is the way to go. Deren Perez, Rai’s mentor, then went flying through the course. The Coast Guard Recruiter sailed all the way to the buzzer and Guam was a country not to be forgotten. It was churning out some great ninjas. John Mack was up next. He literally left the hospital for the first time in a while some days ago.

John’s son Jason was born eleven weeks prematurely. He then developed pneumonia. Yet, Jason proved to be a fighter like his dad. He survived and he was finally doing better. John felt it was safe to step away. He probably had one of his best runs ever because tonight was dedicated to his son. He sailed through the course with the fastest time and he was the first to have a go at the Mega. He came up a little short there. Then again there was always next season. He now has a huge motivator in the form of his boy.

Gabe Villalbos was soon up. He was a Ninja from Wyoming. Its apparently very hard to be a ninja there because the nearest gym was miles away and so him making the journey tonight was a highlight for him. The rookie made it as far as Kaleidoscope when his arms gave out. He still went far enough fast enough to make it into the next round. Gabe was followed by the Flippin Ninja. Her real name is Ally Tippetts Wooton. She flips her way onto the course and that’s how she got the nickname.

Ally also trains with a bunch of Utah Ninja moms. They all have kids around the same age. They workout and then allow the kids to play. It was a bit like Ninja’s Mommy & Me class. They call themselves “Mom Posse”. It helped Ally get back in shape after the second baby. Ally made it as far as the Kite Surfer when she fell tonight. She might still make it to the next round though because of her progress. She was followed by Max Mason. Max met Vince Pane at college. Vince was the life of the party. He believed in adventure and he put together a group at school to go with him.

Sadly, there had been an accident. Vince passed away in 2024. His friends still went on adventure just now that it was honor of him. They knew that Vince wouldn’t want them to stop living. Or enjoy life. Max ran tonight remembering his friend and he became the second fastest finisher. He was right behind John. He in turn was followed by a Beckstrand. Baylee Beckstrand made her debut tonight. She was the fifth Beckstrand to join ANW. Both of her parents have run. And two of her siblings have added to the legend of the Beckstrand family.

Baylee Beckstrand was so good that she became the first woman finisher of the night. Training as a family has certainly helped them build a formidable reputation. Then the dad ran too. Brian Beckstrand had his run right after his daughter. He almost tripped up on Roller Bags. He managed to hold on because he wanted to be the first Father-Daughter duo to hit a buzzer. He fell just short of that when he fell on Kaleidoscope, but he still made it very far and has a strong chance of advancing. He was followed by a commercial break full of Californians.

The Papal Ninja hit a buzzer during the break. He had a chance at the Mega and still missed. Sean Bryan was then followed by Arona Spader. She was a graphic artist who also does cosplay in her spare time. She was quite good with that weapon at the start of her run. She was an even better ninja. She made it as far as Kaleidoscope when her hands gave way on the last piece of the obstacle. She still made it far and will most likely be moving onto the next round. Now, this next ninja learned what it was to be strong by watching his dad survive.

Simeon Serrano was young. There was no getting around that. Only his father was caught up in a fire at the oil refinery in his town and he held on. He survived over twenty surgeries. He covered in burn scars. He still made it to the course tonight to watch his family take it on. Simeon was up first. He became a new finisher of the night. His sister Salome then had her run. She sadly fell on Kite Surfer only she still made it far. Those two might be starting a new tradition at home after this. Kaden Lebsack then had his run.

Kaden had been Zuri’s pick for fastest time. He must’ve found out about it because he ran through that course without hesitating. He finished with the second fastest time. He was two seconds behind John Mack. Another legend ran after the commercial break. Jessie Graff returned. The stuntwoman and strong ninja returned rocking a new pair of heels. Her friend adapted a special shoe just for her. It gives her the appearance of rocking a heel when really they go down when she runs in them. Turning them into shoes.

The shoes were perfect for Jessie. It gave her the drive to go on and hit a buzzer. Her first in a while. So, big night and they chose to go with a notorious speed demon named Josiah Pippel. He was Akbar’s pick for the fastest time. Matt’s had been John Mack. It ended up going to Akbar’s pick because Josiah barely touched those obstacles when he moving onto the next one. He finished the course in under a minute. He was given a chance at the Mega and was the only person of the night to have won the ten thousand dollars. He made it up the Mega Warped Wall. And was walking out of tonight as the legendary ninja that he is.

Brian Beckstrand was also advancing along with his daughter who was the fastest amongst the women so the family tradition lives on with them.

THE END!
