In tonight’s America’s Got Talent episode, there were twelve acts that performed yesterday. Unfortunately, a mere half that number will be making it through to the Finals. There was heartbreak tonight and there were moments of joy and laughter. Sofia showed off her giant comb that she genuinely uses. It was funny. Eric Nam also stopped by to cheer everyone. He loved the energy of the performances. He reminded them that AGT was the one place where you could go and see dogs, magicians, and a laser dance show. “The Traitors” alum even set the stage for the new season of the show premiering tomorrow.

“The Traitors” was sorta a murder mystery tv show. It usually involved celebrities. This new season will be for everyday Americans and the show also had Alan Cumming. He’s the host that makes everything more interesting. His Scottish accent alone makes things a lot more mysterious. It’s his voice that grabbed the attention of Masterpiece Theater watchers as well. Still, one must return to AGT. Things were complicated tonight because everyone upped their game. There wasn’t one act that everyone panned or just didn’t vibe with.

They each had something to offer. The first grouping was Kameron Marshall and Olivia Befus. The assumption was that Kameron would win over OIivia. It was magic vs a dog act. It therefore surprised everyone when Olivia won that round. She was great. She brought an air of a positivity. It just was no match on a grand scale compared to Kameron. Kameron was already Las Vegas ready. It didn’t make sense any at all that she was chosen over him. Especially as her dog act wasn’t as grand as say the other dog act of the night.

The next grouping had Daniel Alvarez up against Veronika Goroshkova. Now, they were both incredible. They were both ready for Las Vegas. One a little more than the other so its fine when Veronika won that round. She will be welcomed at a hotel theater in Sin City. Daniel also would’ve been great. It just takes a minute to warm up for his act. His act was also more likely to come with hecklers than Veronika’s. It made it riskier and yet there’s no reward without risks. Its why no matter who America chose – it wouldn’t have been as shocking as the first one.

There was also a special guest performance from AGT’s alum, Chris Turner. He was a rapper. His special skill was taking ques from the audience and turning it into a rap song right there on the spot. It was a call and response rap. It brought up the energy levels. It also showed that alums are always welcome to come back for a performance. They don’t even need to win. They just had to use AGT to build a following. That’s how Howie put it. He said during a special of New York Live earlier at 7:30 EST that AGT should always be used a stepping stone to expand their fanbase.

It made him feel privileged to be a part of their journey by helping uplift the truly stellar ones. Now, there’s been some debate that they hadn’t used their Golden Buzzer on people who deserve it most. Then again they couldn’t save the Golden Buzzer to the very end. Sofia already tried to do something similar and the audience kept booing her for not using it sooner. She enjoyed Cesar Dias’s number. It still wasn’t enough to beat out Acro Canine Crew. The dogs seemed to be ruling this season. And there’s no toppling them.

With Cesar eliminated after his loss, the show quickly moved on to a group with both Come Here and Luke Taleno. Both were great. Both have been a pleasure to watch on AGT. Its just that Come Here was bigger. It has a wider audience. It was Las Vegas ready. The same could be said of Royal Lasers. They were the laser dancing trio that expanded into a group in real time on AGT. It couldn’t have been easy to expand with all eyes on them yet they pulled it off. It was commendable and was it enough to beat Young & Strange? As it turns out, yes.

Young & Strange were a magical duo. Their performance yesterday left Mel feel like it was a step backwards than forwards. She wanted them to keep upping their game and she didn’t think they did that. Amecia must’ve agreed with her because they eliminated them tonight. They chose Royal Lasers over them. It was the right call. The magicians have to work on more than simple disappearing and reappearing somewhere else. There was still one last spot left afterwards. It was down to either Travis Garland or Geno Ploeger.

One was a magical act. The other was the only true singing act of the night. It was a hard one. Poor Geno looked on the brink of tears long before it was revealed he won. He was such a bundle of nerves that it was adorable. Travis will still have a career after this, but Geno breaking down in absolute tears was what’s going to stick with people come next week.

THE END!
