In tonight’s Sheriff Country episode, the school bus from Edgewater High School left the same time it usually does. No one counted on them running into trouble.
There were nine of those children that didn’t make it home on the first half of tonight’s two parter. It took a while to respond to the scene of the school bus fire.
The Sheriff’s department and the Fire Department were having their annual charity baseball game. It was about to end in a fight. Bode and Boone nearly fought.
Sharon and Mickey nearly fought as well. The women were at least arguing about Ruby so there was something to their added state of anger. Mickey met with Ruby after Sharon kicked her mom out of her life again.
Remember, Ruby also happened to be Mickey’s stepmother. She was the only real mother she’s ever known. Her birth mom died when she was really young.
Mickey knew that Ruby wasn’t perfect and she still tried to have a relationship with her because she thought she was following Sharon’s advice.
Sharon was the one that talked her into having a relationship with her father again. Her dad has been in and out of her life. Yet, Sharon said that Wes was a good dad. The two women disagreed about that too.
The tensions were rising when suddenly they all heard a boom. It was the school bus. It blew up. Both units responded to the scene and the Fire Department had both kinds of news for the Sheriff Department.
The good news was that no one was harmed because the bus had been empty. The bad news was that it was empty because those kids along with the bus driver were abducted by people who planned this all out.
The kids were forced to leave their backpacks. There was a bag collected with their cell phones still inside.
Those kids were taken to a second location. The authorities didn’t know where so they started looking. There were tracks leading into the woods. Edgewater was surrounded by woods.
The city issued a city wide search. Even Deadwater came in to help because two of their own children were on that bus. They searched those woods. Wes also got involved.
He butted heads with Eve. He disagreed with the concept of Three Rock because he considered it slave labor. He said as much to Eve.
The two of them soon found the bus driver. Her name is Candace. She said she took off running when they were getting put in the van. She got shot in the arm. She hid in the woods until she was found.
Candace said there were two of them. Two guys. One of the guys called Mickey. He demanded 2.6 million dollars or the kids die. He called himself “Donald” like the Duck because Mickey as in the mouse. Donald apparently knew how much money the county had in reserves. He demanded all of it.
Donald said he’d call with further instructions. The case was open. Mickey felt to keep the fact a ransom demand had been made. It would be a decision that haunts her because when they did get the approval from the city council to pay the ransom – Donald called back.
He demanded the money. Mickey said they were going through the process and Donald yelled at her that she wasn’t in charge. He thought she was trying to stall. It made him strike back at her the only way he knew how. He texted the parents with footage of their kids being held hostage.
There was the overall message that Mickey has been lying to them. He knew the county has the money and Mickey was the one that wouldn’t pay.
If those kids die, he made it out to be her fault. Not his! It was the way he worded the whole message that told Mickey he knew exactly how much the county had. She contacted the only person from the comptroller’s office that filed for bankruptcy. He had a son that should’ve rode the bus that day.
He called out sick. It turns out Brad set this whole thing in motion.
Brad also had no clue where the kids were. He said the people he hired were no longer taking his calls. He didn’t even know if he was going to get his share anymore because they were running it now.
He said he met them on Discord. There were two of them. One was in a wheelchair. Candace never mentioned that one person was in a wheelchair and so there’s a chance the hired guns brought in more hired guns. Brad only knew one of the men’s names. It was Lawrence Holt. Holt worked at the quarry.
They buried those children alive underground.
THE END!
